Well you can't really go to Birmingham New Street on a pendolino as they don't run from Leicester... MidlandMainline is just giving me prices/times to Central Trains services.

Again, to Nuneaton from Leicester, MidlandMainline is giving me only Central Trains fares.

If you wanted, you could get a Central Trains to Birmingham, Virgin to Euston and then Midland Mainline back up?

If you let me know an exact route you want to do and i'll look it up for you?

Nuneaton - Stafford via Trent Valley CDR? Used to be £5.10 when I was doing it a few years ago, probably nearer £7 these days?? Buy one and spend all day going up and down if the grip doesn't come!!

I Wish the pendos did go to/from Leicester, I know they dont but I can get to another station to catch one.

It's a shame that Leicester doesn't have Overhead lines. Besides if I lived in Leicester I'd be happy with HSTs and many a couple of EE and Sulzer near Birstall. 8)

LEICESTER 09:50 (Central Trains)
NUNEATON 10:14

(Leicester - Nuneaton Cheap Day Return = £6.60)

NUNEATON 10:25 (Virgin Pendolino)
STAFFORD 10:49
(or)
CREWE 11:10

(Nuneaton - Stafford Cheap Day Return (Standard Class) = £6)
(Nuneaton - Crewe Cheap Day Return (Standard Class) = £14.60 (by splitting tickets at Stafford)

First class tickets are considerably more expensive unfortunately, for example:

Nuneaton - Stafford First Day Return (First Class) = £30.40!

Looking at Advance purchase, there is no first class availability for the date you have picked

Let me know if you want me to look at different timings, or at timings for the return.

Hope this helps

Jordy
(BTW do you have a railcard?)

Hi Martyn 29,

What you could do, is get a Standard open single/return, and upgrade to FC for FREE on Saturday.

BTW you don't get any hot food free on weekends at all, just tea/coffee, biscuits, some "real crisps" which are far superior to ordinary walkers crisps, available from the shop in coach C.

What's it like on a Pendo in SC, as i have never travelled SC on a Pendo before? :p

Virgin do free FC upgrades if you have a Standard Open ticket at weekends and bank holidays.

Dam FC will suddenly get alot busier on weekends now that you lot know ;)

Simply buy a SOS or SOR, travel on a weekend/bank holiday, and have a seat in FC free.

When i've done this, a total cow of a RSM refused to give me a snack box once, although the TM's are generally fine with it. RSM's don't seem to know about it at all.

Oh right! Something to remember! Is that WC only or does it include XC?

All of VT, but I don't now if any other TOC's like GNER, TPE and FGW do it??

Please note that I will now claim comission on the money you save by be telling you about this offer ;)

It used to be the case if the ticket was discounted (railcard, Priv, etc.) you could not claim the free upgrade & had to pay. Don't know if this still applies.

Maybe memorex just misread my post then. I said it used to be the case you couldn't claim a FREE upgrade at weekends on Virgin if you had a discounted ticket.

Yes, sorry, I mis-read it. I thought you meant that you couldn't get a weekend first on a discounted ticket.
