Hi all

I am travelling thru London tomorrow afternoon and am hoping to track down the elusive (for me) 379006 at Liv St or 158881/885/889 at Waterloo

Can anyone please assist if they are out & about and when? ;)

Thanks in anticipation

Regards
Simon

You are off heading to Basingstoke/Easteligh/Brockenhurst for the 158s.

Three 158s do the Romsey-Salisbury trains, one does the Lymington service, one stays at Basingstoke and then forms a Winchester-Southampton service. One 158 stays in Salisbury and runs empty to Portsmouth for the 1649 Portsmouth-Eastleigh.

There are 2 158s on the 0850 from Waterloo and one on the 1120 but all other daytime services are 159s.

Sorry just to clarify it will be 15:30+ and I will be staying at Euston for my missing Extendelino's unless my missing units are about

I thought there was a 158 turn out of Waterloo in the afternoon peak?

The 15:50 arrival at Waterloo (Ex-Bristol TM/Exeter St Davids) was a 158+159+159. The 158 was joined at Salisbury when I was on it not long after last week.

As 'Southern' say's the 1620, the above *might* form the 1620, however when I got to Waterloo there was a 3 car 159 already in the platform next to us which might have done it.

the xx49 arrival forms the next xx20 departure
the xx19 arrival forms the next xx50 departure

Was it a Friday by any chance?
I think the 1620 is an 8 coach train on a Friday only, otherwise its 6 coaches(2x159).

Stand at Liverpool St between 17.00 and 19.00 and you should see 27 out of the 30 379s in service. Sods law of course says it is one of the three not in service at Ilford Car Sheds.

Generally that is correct, there are some exceptions to that just after the morning peak and just before the afternoon peak, this involves a 9 car set heading to and from Clapham yard.

Thanks Matt, maybe I should have put a "normally" in the middle of those?

Oh 379006 does exist, it was the third one I saw. ;)

The 1550 arrival *does* form the 1620 and today (Thursday) was 8 coaches with 158890 at the London end.
