Good photo spots on the Mid Hants?

Hi all,

I've had a look on T'Internet, but would value your recommendations on good photo locations on the Mid-Hants that don't require a lineside permit. I've been there many times but not "off-piste" before. I plan to go there on this coming Friday and/or Saturday for the diesel gala. I will be traveling on the line too of course!

Very few unfortunately.

1) Footpath running alongside the line at Ropley, however being north of the line, position of the sun could be a problem.

2) Overbridge a short distance east of Medstead station, however the line is in a deep cutting.

3) Probably the best place is the overbridge east of Alresford station (zoom lens may be needed for photos of trains in the station. As with Medstead, looking the other way the line is in a deep cutting. Due to position of the sun, early to mid morning is probably the best time.
