I’m a new to the forum so hello to all of you!!!!.

This first post may seem a bit long but please read it through as you may well be able to help me

Whilst waiting for the Moderators approval to come thought, I thought I have a look at the previous posts etc. I dropped on a post by COXSTER on 25 May 2006 … St Ives - St Erth (and other stuff)

Reading all the replies to the above-mentioned post, I have to say thanks for the positive and encouraging responses. Because, this is my web page and my W I P route at
http://www.class50-hoover-bashers.com/bve.htm

The story goes like this……….

About 18 months ago I suffered a serious hack and virus attack that damaged my then hard drive resulting in my BVE project files being damaged and most of my object files going the same way as well. The whole W I P was in danger of going down the drain. My backed up files where on a CD, which was full of errors and it was looking grim all round. But, slowly, I have managed to repair damaged files (mainly the Routebuilder project file) and by luck a few weeks ago found a disc whilst clearing out my computer junk which had the complete set of object files for the route plus the project file for my Exeter-Newton Abbot route (for which the track is fully laid through out)……DEEP JOY ALL ROUND!!!!!!!

Anyway, I’m back on course to finish the St Ives to St Erth portion of the Penzance route very soon, working on to PeeZed there after. But, I do need a certain program, which I used for file conversion … MS3DtoCSV10 converter by David White. I have tried previously active links to his site and another location from where this program was available but no luck plus his e-mail address seem to be dude as well.

When I’ve created my object files in Milkshape I can then convert them to CSV for use with BVE using the MS3D-CSV converter. I know Milkshape isn’t most peoples cup of tea but I stuck with it and it has given me great results. Langstone Rock at Dawlish Warren was especially rewarding to see in a BVE environment.

Here is a link to my youtube presentation of my St Ives route so far, although it has been worked on since this!!!!!

Like I say guys…if anyone knows where to find MS3DtoCSV10 converter by David White or better still any way of contacting him direct, please let me know and I’ll give you a mention in the final credits for being a LIFSAVER and paying a genuine contribution to me finishing this project !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers to you all

Your Exeter-Newton Abbot route sounds great, will be expecially good with the class 50 being built!

St Ives also look excellent. A really scenic line!

All we need now is Paignton ;)

 I've been looking forward to this route for BVE for ages. Sorry to learn of all the problems you've had and I really hope someone can help you with the program you need. I've just checked out the YouTube clip of the route and it looks fantastic. From the screenies on your website I always thought this route looked a cracker. Very well done! ;)

Panic over………..

I’ve still not been able to track down MS3DTOCSV10.zip file, the program I need to convert Milkshape exported 3d objects into BVE compatible CSV.

But I have contacted Mete Griagen, the Milkshape program developer and he has kindly made a plugin so that BVE object builder/creators can export direct from the program into BVE CSV format!!!!!!

Thanks to David White for his elusive program but CSV objects will be so much easier to create now with Milkshape.

Export as.........BVE CSV

and this is what it looks like in structure viewer...the textures would have been applied in Milkshape but they went missing as mentioned above

This is what it did look like before the textures went missing

And to the “Boy Liam” who posts to much!!!! From above LOL

Liam, the Sea Wall route is most defiantly back on track now with the plugin available. I have 95% of all my route objects in MS3D backup format, just need to create new textures, not a problem, and away we go!!!!!!!!

As for turning left at Aller jn, I was thinking of going up to Dainton and over the banks to Plymouth evenyually.

But, a quick leap down the branch for BVE shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Re the fencing at Carbis.....

There is a fence here ( do you imagine the HSE would allow Network Rail to get away without one ) it disappears behind a small left hand rise which I've yet to amend in the route and is buried behind bushes and such. I've a fair bit to do to match the real environment but I must concentrate on finishing part one of the route so BVE'ers can get out on it!!!

Don't forget to include that lovely dog :dog: that lives (hopefully he's still there) at Lelant Station. He used to wag his tail and bark from the station garden often when a train stopped. ;)

Hi Dennis

Just checked out your youtube. Couldn't make out the track texture you mentioned but then youtube do, do horrible things to your clips don’t they?

But not enough to take away the fact that it looks like a great route. Smooth photo realistic textures, not harsh or sharp in the world environment. Where can it be downloaded?

There are some screenies here ; unfortunately, the route is unlikely to ever be completed (it's only about 10mins long anyway) as it was only built for the tutorials. All the scenic elements used in the tutorial route are downloadable and freely distributable.

Breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking!

I like your use of textures to give a warm realistic feel. I experiment a lot with textures to give the best “feel”, anything that will take BVE that a little bit further from a visual perspective is always worth the time and effort.

I dropped on your tutorials a few weeks ago and book marked them, I think a good read up is in order to see how I can achieve similar results to yourself.

Keep up the good work mate!!!

Looking good there! Would be excellent to have it as a driveable route in BVE.

Milkshape certainly looks complicated to work with, but I will certainly need to use it to create my route eventually!

Hi Rich

Well, It’s actually not that far of now, but the first part of the route, St Ives-St Erth should (hopefully) be finished for release by the end of August.
We’re of to St Ives for two weeks in August and I just need to do a small amount of research..Textures, buildings, last minute inclusions etc. Providing my laptop doesn’t let me down, the end of August it should be. Then on to Penzance which will be a lot easier that the branch line!
