Class 57 at St Pancras High Level

Catching my train home this evening I noticed there was one of NRs Class 57s sat in platform 1 at St Pancras.

Anyone have any idea why it's there and also how it got there?

There's two on Thunderbird duties this weekend due to coasting. One will have a 319 coupler and other a 377 coupler. One will be stationed at Cricklewood however.

Hopefully acting as a Thunderbird Loco (or Spot Hire to anyone including GBRF Engineering Trains) based across the Southern Region. Otherwise they will be back to spending their time sitting around in Eastleigh Works.

I appreciate that this may seem to be a stupid question but what is coasting?

Basically just running up to speed, then putting its pantograph down through the area with no power, then i believe it stops at a location and puts its pan back up and carries on.

Due to points renewal in the Kentish town area FCC trains running to high level are coasting between wh14( south end of bellsize tunnel and wh4 dock junction south 20 mph max) where we will stop and put the pans back up, this only affects up trains due to a crane being to close to the running line (ohle). 2x57 acting as rescue locos both tight lock fitted.

I think I saw him taking the photo just before the 319 came in to the platform
