Could be several travellers, network gold card available.

Just received a 25% discount offer from London Midland however their website says there are no offerings on my requirement??

How important is time to you - do you want the quickest journey or are you willing to be slower for cheaper tickets?

Using LM to Nuneaton is almost certain to be the cheapest option - with GroupSave if there are 3 or 4 of you.

For flexible tickets, the most obvious split is at Nuneaton:
London-Nuneaton LM Only Super Off Peak Return £23.00
Nuneaton-Hinckley Off Peak Day Return £5.00
Total £28.00
GroupSave can't be used with these tickets, but you can save a little with a London-Nuneaton LM Only Off Peak Return which is £22.45 each with GS3 and £17.00 each with GS4. You should be able to apply the 25% LM discount on the Super Off Peak Return I think, making it £17.25.

There are some Advances available which come out slightly cheaper. Try specifying Birmingham as a Via point.

Time is not a big issue, going for the football so the time around it can be spent on route or in a hostelry

The split at Nuneaton may be the simplest option at a reasonable price. A suitable itinerary would be:
Euston 0946 - Nuneaton 1053
Nuneaton 1123 - Hinckley 1130

Nuneaton 1935 - Rugby 1950
Rugby 1959 - Euston 2145
(unfortunately the last fast LM service from Nuneaton to Euston is the 1835).

You can do it for £8 each way per person but this involves the 0703 departure from Euston, and the 1935 from Hinckley (or an hour later and earlier, respectively, for £11.50 each way).

Sorry, it was a bit confusing.

For the itinerary suggested, you could use these walk-up tickets (purchase in advance or on the day, not tied to a specific departure):
London-Nuneaton LM Only Super Off Peak Return £23.00
Nuneaton-Hinckley Off Peak Day Return £5.00
Total £28.00 each (may be less if there is a group, but I can't say how much it would be without knowing how many people there would be)

There are no worthwhile Advance tickets for these departures (you'd save £1 but be tied to specific trains, which isn't worth it IMO), but if you were willing to leave London a few hours earlier you could do it for £17. You'd probably spend more than you save on coffee and breakfast by getting a train at silly-o'clock though!

It does depend on how many are travelling!

An off-peak return to Nuneaton (route LM only), bought online from London Midland is £22.05 each.
If bought online or at the station you can get super off-peak returns for £23 each, or £68 for 4 off-peak returns (With Groupsave, which means you all must travel together at all times).

The price of Advance tickets will also depend on how large your group is, because there may not be enough cheap fares for everyone - and there are non available for the 09:46 or 08:46.
For two people, out on the 10:46 and returning on the 19:35 (from Nuneaton) is currently £16 each (£10 out, £6 return). For a third person, they have to pay £22 (£16 out, £6 return) so it's not really worth bothering with when a flexible ticket is £22.05.

For each person, also add on £5 for a Nuneaton to Hinkley day return.

As the train only runs hourly at Hinckley, depending on where the ground is, you might want to get the bus between Nuneaton and Hinckley. The railway station isn't particularly close to the centre at Hinckley and the bus is far more frequent.
