Happy days! A circular route involving entirely Mk1 'slammers', I wish it was still possible now. Marshlink is a nice line, but 170s have completely spoilt the experience for me. I try to avoid SET/SWT/SN now as it's too depressing. It's not a bad unit! Remember travelling on it over the Marshlink when it operated on some diagrams back in 2004/5. One of my first few meets I believe to![]()

If 1001 does charters in future, I'll be wanting to go on this 'hellfire' machine! (I'd want to be in the coach with the engine though!)
What have swt done yorkie? They still have 1498/97 with them running services and 960012 buzzing about

Saw the Thumper today stabled outside St Leonards Depot. Got a good toot from someone in the cab. Visit here for pics.
1001 will once again be used on charters when all coaches are ready and certified and hired out to Southern (I hope) when a 171 cops it.
Been on 1001 severn times on various railtours which were good fun. Can't wait to ride on it again.
1001 is a BEAST, I remember when W&W hired it when there was rugby at Cardiff!
A run on Hastings to Ashford when standing in for a 171 would have been nice aswell, especially since they used it with 2 power cars and one trailer, which must have given some great performance.

Never knew 960012 buzzed! Has somebody fitted it with a BUZZFIRE traction package?
