EMT 43075 fitted with swallow?

Hello all,

Unfortunately I can't link the picture in question from Facebook to here due to the guy's privacy settings and it being his pic etc, but does anyone know when and why a small IC inspired swallow was stuck/painted onto 43075 just above the end of the EMT branding on each side?

I don't know if it's an april fools or its a genuine anniversary or something??

yes that's the one. Just interested, I caught a photo of it at Leicester on the 27/02/13 and it hadn't got a swallow then so its definitely appeared in the last month.

I don't think it looks anything like the IC swallow.

it is IC inspired then, its obviously paying homage to the IC livery in some way... or that's how I look at it.

It certainly looks IC inspired to me. The wings are more swept back and it isn't on level, but otherwise yes it's a swallow and similar enough to the IC one.

I'm almost 100% sure I saw this the other day on one of my journeys on the MML. It was almost indistinguishable from an IC Swallow emblem at the speed the train passed me (I was on a platform and it was passing through non-stop somewhere around 75mph).

I'm curious now...

They used it it, but I'm not sure that they owned it because as far as I'm aware TOCs can use the BR logos/liveries if they wish to do so (though they may have to pay a fee to the DfT) but they don't normally as they'd rather put their own brand on the operation.
