1. You can risk an hour later to London, given that you are only going as far as Brussels the first day.

2. Doing a quick test-booking - if you want to go via the Rhine Gorge instead the HSL after Koeln, you can: choose the second service that says "no savings price available," then click on "adjust the transfer time" at Mannheim, and lo and behold - 59 Euros again. Avoids what is presumably a very busy Sunday afternoon ICE.

3. I imagine you want a loco-hauled from Z Ruda? The through Prague trains fit the bill.
Beyond that, I don't know my way round CZ, but have you discovered http://www.zelpage.cz/trate/ceska-republika which is partly in English and will give you a link to the pdf timetable and tell you what the booked stock is for nearly all the routes (Z Ruda is still missing for the current year)

We're heading down early to have a champagne breakfast at St Pancras

DB couldn't get us on the Rhine Gorge EC service but going to attempt to amend booking at Brussels, guessing the RailTeam desk for that.

Are you aware of the Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket (valid as far into the Czech Republic as Plzeň) for Monday?

Our €59 London Spezial ticket gets us to Bayerisch Eisenstein/Zelezna Ruda (German/Czech border) and then less than £10 to Prague from there.

Didn't know you could do that - be interested to know if they let you.

Whilst in Munich, I'd recommend a visit to Augustiner Brau Brewery on Lansburger Strasse, near Hackerbrucke S-bahn station and trams 16+17. It's much nicer than the Hofbrauhaus and even has a roof terrace (up the stairs at the far end of the beer hall, which is on the right as you enter the front door). Roof terrace only open in the summer when it's not raining (which is not very often).

Will definitely visit there as only 15 mins walk from the hotel at Hautbahnhof.
