Today I saw... Whilst waiting at Tallington crossing this afternoon, ten Class 66 coupled together in East Coast maroon livery heading south towards Peterborough - very impressive!

Talk about overpowered headings! :lol::D

Just imagine the length of freight they could haul with that little lot! It'd make the mile-long BNSF trains seem like a Class 153 by comparison! :shock:8-)

It's quite a site the first time you see one of these convoys, they're fairly common nowadays though.

Bloody hell, Death has risen again! :shock:

Where have you been???

I saw a four or five rake of 66s recently (Can't remember where, but most likely on the WCML) and that took me back enough...But a ten-rake would be a simply epic sight to behold, regular movement or no! 8-)

I'm sorry to admit; On Facebook for the most part... :oops::roll:

I'm still an offline user I should point out, but I should have fairly ready access to the forum for at least the next week. <D

Must've been an impressive sight - how many of them were actually powering?

If you search 'Moffat Tunnel' on You Tube, one posting has a 12-strong convoy of Union Pacific GE diesels - big consists are a feature of that route across the Continental Divide.

Side Effects with Jude Law and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Oh, you mean railway based viewings? Nothing today I've been off work! ;)

I imagine the couplings would snap before you fully loaded the engines' capacity.

which is why massive long heavy freight trains in the US and Aus place some of the locos at the rear and even mid train
