Hi all,

I realise that a Zone U12* London ticket doesn't give unlimited journeys and BoJ on the tube part, but could I do the following example journey:

Zone U12* - Watford Junction ticket

Take Underground from Pimlico to Oxford Circus. Exit station, do some shopping, walk to Euston and continue on the National Rail part of the journey.

(This isn't a Cross-London transfer in the traditional sense)

That's fine. You can break your journey at a Tube station but you can't resume it using the Tube. You can however proceed and use a National Rail service following the break, as you suggest.

Can I ask where you've both got your information from, in case I need some documentation to back myself up at the gateline?

NRE's Crossing London page only mentions BoJ under "Crossing London with tickets marked Ԡ' - but not all Zone U12* tickets contain the maltese cross

In fairness, none of the U zone tickets should be marked with the '+'. LUL don't do Break of Journey, but the barriers do let people out if the appropriate zone has been paid for, they just don't let you back in again. National rail is a bit more easy going.
