Unfortunately, a person was hit by a train, resulting in a line blockage and severe delays in the area.

Person got caught between a Brighton - Portsmouth service stopping at the station. Person was airlifted to hospital where they are in a serious condition.

I had just come back from Ore and at polegate picked up a couple who had come from Gatwick, wanted worthing, but had got on the wrong coaches of a spliter. Took them to Brighton, but just as got to Brighton, got the message through of the Portslade issues. Did feel a bit sorry for them.
Oh and to make matters worse, we just got the trains moving when a fire alarm shut brighton station for 30 mins.
Of course there was the standard person in the info queue moaning about crap southern. Felt very sorry for the info girl

I was trying to get to Portslade from Brighton that day with my grandson, my brother got information that the injured party crossed from the up to the down platform as the train approached, tried to mount the platform, didn't quite make it and became trapped between the train and the platform. A BDR gang was summonsed from Brighton to release the injured party.
Does anyone know of his condition?
I did think that the platform staff at Brighton did a good job, advising people of the incident, the expected length of the stoppage, and directing people to the buses outside the station which were accepting rail tickets.

I heard today that he actually died earlier on.
