I wish to complain about two posts being scheduled at 2337, which might result in people accidentally reading the wrong post.

Don't expect a response, I heard they'd all been outsourced to some centre in India that just gives back Pre-written answers! :o

A post-replacement bus will take you to your destination forum, calling at every thread en-route :)

There is no last post. This forum is currently operating a 24/7 service - although someone should perhaps start a thread on whether posting should be possible on Christmas Day.

Unfortunately the staff team require Christmas Day to carry out essential maintenance. There is no possibility of the forum opening on this day.

Technically the forum is operating a 24/7 service apart from Lincolnshire where they have to wait until after lunchtime on a Sunday to access the forum (via dial-up).

I just saw this on the RMT website;

Bob Crow said:
Poor service in Lincolnshire is just one of many problems that has resulted from allowing a forum to be funded from advertising revenue to pay huge bonuses to moderators and administrators, while the rest of the system has been left to rot from years of underfunding.

This means the general public not only suffer from delays, but also a threat to safety when members are unable to get on and injure themselves from repeated beatings on the keyboard or desk.

This is yet another reason that the forum should be taken into Government ownership and tightly regulated.

But I thought that part of the problem was too much meddling and micromanagement by the DfT in forum affairs. How would more regulation make that better?

Apparently the RMT is intending to ballot its members on here with a consideration of industrial action

What will the catering provision be like? Will any services have a restaurant on board ala Pullman Dining, Travelling chef, Express Cafe or SWT style hit and miss with an on board trolley service?

I heard that they are replacing the shop with more space for "Ticketing" subforums, but this wasn't in the franchise agreement?

We feel that the move to an at-seat ticketing service will better reflect our customers desires. Only a few washed up enthusiasts will miss the option of getting hot drinks, snacks and ticketing advice from a buffet counter rather than an extensive range of two different types of cold sandwich, lukewarm tea/coffee and half-baked ticketing advice that will be available with the new system.

With respect to Mr Crow, he is clearly living in the dark ages if he thinks that a return to a state run forum will bring any efficiency savings and improved user satisfaction. Furthermore I'd like Mr Crow to know that our hamster wheel powered server system is capable of delivering a cost effective and reliable service both now and in the future.

Further to the comment above, please be aware that our hamster will soon be upgraded to a rat - this new rat is faster, more reliable, but only lasts one tenth of the time in reality, and goes wandering on occasion.

We'd also like to apologise for the delay to this upgrade. The rat just won't stick to its diet, and until it looses another 100g it will remain incompatible with our existing wheel.

Will another forum's username restrictions be lifted to allow us continued thread reading using another forums service?

No. Anyone found breaking these restrictions will be permanently forced to use Merseyrail 142s for all rail travel and forum browsing.

Does the rat have an underfloor engine though? Although faster loading times would be appreciated, a rumbling through my headphones whilst reading a thread would not.

No to Diesel Multiple Forums, Locomotive Hauled forums are much better!

Ainswoth74: If you would take a hamster to power the sever, than I have on that you can lease from me. Should you accept the agreement, then I will be the HASCO (Hamster stock operating company). You will have to pay wheel access charges to the company that maintains the wheel (any suggestions for a name) patching the hamsters is difficult, however, as there are very limited paths during the day.:D

In addition, due to this being a privatised forum, if the rat/hamster is declared a failure, no replacement rat/hamster will be able to be sourced due to these FoOMs (Forum Operating Moderators) not having agreed to hire in a replacement rat for a short term basis beforehand, to cover their lack of wheel operatives.

Also the rat may turn up short formed, with only 2 out of the usual 4 legs working :D

Dividing services may also prove problematic, leading to the journey to one sub-forum being cancelled, with the other operating with unneeded additional capacity ;)

Lexie (the hamster) is well maintained. However, she is usually undergoing maintenance during the day. She can only operate the service from 21:00 to 07:00.

I am thinking of creating my own open access forum within this site, which will offer discussions about the UK railway, fares advice and policy, some general discussions and perhaps the odd quiz.

By including all of these topics, I will naturally bag a large percentage of the ad revenue.

All I need to do now is check if vBulletin has any available forum slots.

Unfortunately the current franchise agreement includes a no competition clause. So until the franchise comes up for renewal (rumour is that Directly Operated Forums might take over) your open access forum will have to operate at impractical hours and only contain threads about a few related but obscure subjects.

A cock up at admin level has meant the existing mods are now going to carry on for another six months until a new auction process can be set up.
