I noticed two short formed EMT trains within 10 minutes of each other this morning one 5v10 and one 4v5. Are EMT having reliability issues with the meridians as I noticed 4/5 in the depot at etches park as I was passing this morning and normally they are only 2/3 or are they just suffering from a maintenance backlog due to all the fitters being busy mending 153s, and before long I expect to see a lot of shortformed local services as I have only seen 1 sprinter on the depot at derby all week and this must be causing a backlog. Before anyone says that they were probably indoors out of sight from passing trains when I passed I have passed twice everyday this week and also normally see at least 1 sprinter on the depot.

The 5 vice 10 this morning was due to a set failure that morning. 4 meridians on depot would be about normal, as 1 7-car, 2 5-cars and 1 4-car are spare, although the 1 4-car today would of been a 5-car, if there was service 4v5. What service was 4v5, would appear to be booked, no short formation report.

0800 Leicester to st pancreas was 4 vs 5, also looks like the 16:35 derby to london via corby could have been 5vs 4 today as 222019 passed derby station going north on the avoiding lines at about the right time.

Ah the stopper, I see, looks like a simple diagram swap then if 1635 was a 5-car.

To cart an extra coach of air... The 16:35 should not run ESPecially on a Friday and the coaches joined to the 16:18 which always has people standing and no spare seats even in first

Set is needed to fill in the gap south of Kettering, because the 1700 is a divider and dosen't make it to Corby in time. By attaching it to the 1618 you leave the Kettering - London corridor without a service for an hour. Furthermore 1618 attaches to something in London, so can't be a double, and theres not enough platform space to put the other train elsewhere and run a double ex-1618 instead.

EMT do offer lots of megatrain tickets on the 1635, many £1 journeys from Derby to London.
