Dubious answer. The conurbation of Greater Manchester includes 7 football teams if I'm counting correctly. These are Bolton Wanderers, Bury, Manchester City, Manchester United, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale and Wigan Wanderers.

I'm going to go for Stoke on Trent.

Clue 3 defined urban area as town/city, so I would say the city in this case is Manchester. Question is though, is Old Trafford in Manchester or Salford? If the latter, Piccadilly would be a 1 point penalty.
The football team in Wigan is Wigan Athletic by the way.

This station is north of Worplesdon.

Old Trafford is outside the City Boundary in Trafford Borough.

I may have gotten Wigan and Wycombe mixed up. Not quite sure how though :oops:

Clue 1: This station does not, during normal operation, handle any train services which cross an international border.

(In any case though, the guess is void as only National Rail stations may be played on this game, so he's rather luckier than he might have been...)

Clue 3: This station sees operation by 2 classes of train - one of which is seen rather more often than the other.

"International border" includes the Anglo-Welsh and Anglo-Scottish borders, if that's what you're driving at.

And the clue about classes of train disregarded freight.
