Hi Guys,
I was out out and about on my motorbike at the weekend, decided to take my camera along to get more used to my new aquisition.
I had arranged a meeting with my father who was on the Beer with a load of Ex train drivers at the Bluebell Railway so i jumped on my trusty bike and headed to the Railway. This time i had the intention of trying to get atmospheric photos etc...
I stopped at Sharpthorne tunnel, by West Hoathly disused station and i spied one of the services approaching the other side of the 732yard long tunnel.
Then BR Standard Class 4, 4-6-2 tank engine broke out into the fantastic sunshine, running bunker first.
Jumped back on the bike to Horsted Keynes where i caught the Standard 4 tank 80151 on its way back to Sheffield Park.
Trying to capture the 60's feel, the Driver and fireman look on at all the excited passengers.
Then have a chat with the signalman after he as relieved them of the single line token. With the volunteer staff all dressing in period costume this shot could have been straight out of the 60's with the exception of the 'Sprite bottles'...
LBSCR Terrier tank Fenchurch at Horsted Keynes being used for the footplate rides.
LBSCR 0-6-2 Tank 'Birch Grove' approaches Horsted Keynes bunker first.
I love this one, Birch Grove and Fenchurch in the same shot.
On the way home from visiting my father and his colleagues at the Bluebell i stopped off to see my real passion, ex BR diesels working on the short 4 mile Spa Valley Railway between Tunbridge Wells and Groombridge. I love these because they are the type of loco's i was lucky enough to go on when i was a kid, it was great having a Father who was a train driver.
Working in multiple Class 73 E6047 (73140) and Class 33 6585 (33065) round the curve into High Rocks.
A Wider Angle shows the 'High Rocks' in the background.
Back on the bike to Groombridge for more.
The Class 73 runs round its train for the return working.
The 73 pulls away from Groombridge with the service to Tunbridge Wells West.
The Class 33 brings up the Rear.
Anyways, thats it. I'm not loading them up on my fotopic as i am gonna try and reorganise it at a purely European Railway fotopic, i will probably set another one up over time which is for British Trains.
Enjoy.
