Building at Liverpool Lime Street.

Hi, i was recently at Liverpool and between Platform 7 and 8 there is a black building at the end of the platforms. It has black glass and the Liverpool museum adverts on it. Does anyone know how old it is and what it is used for?

This building covers the station end of the conveyor belt which ran up to the main sorting office in Copperas Hill. General idea was to eliminate much of the PO van traffic from the station.

The sorting office opened in 1977 so the conveyor will be contemporary. Since mail ceased to use regular trains the conveyor has been out of use and the sorting office has closed since.
