The timing load is sent down as 506, and the file specification states that if the Power Type is EMU then the value in the field will be the unit class if it is populated.

Sounds like a bodge to make it work our end then. The back end systems probably don't like more than one version of a traction type as a 350 is already in there. The planning software can deal with it though. Shame we don't have any non-tilt timed 390 about as it would be interesting to see what they come out as !

I was at Bury today and our 506 didn't look like it had moved in some considerable time, though then again had it been out and got fried & fell to pieces it would probably look no different

I really do wonder if/when they will get it done (so far we have suggested superficially doing up one carriage to stick in the transport museum but that's a non-starter as it would mean moving out too many buses).

I would have loved this unit to do 110mph across the Broadbottom Viaduct when the Class 506 were on the Manchester to Glossop/Hadfield service. Still, it seems from the link in this thread that "all things are possible"..hock:
