A little tenuous but a true story!

One of the bells of the Church of St Erc in Cornwall needed to be re-cast due to age etc. (St Erc Church is the Parish chuch of St Erth, one of the brothers and sisters of the Cornish saints who came on a leaf from Ireland to found the churches of St Ia, St Ives, St Uny, Uny-Lelant and St Erc, St Erth). Up to you whay you believe of legends.

The Church of England has a charity to help fund the re-casting of old bells at the foundary in Whitechapel in London. Funds were offered to the church to recast the bell on one condition:- The bell would have to have the legend cast into the bell an arranged line from the third verse of the carol "Hark the herald angels sing"!

RE-BORN TO SAVE THE SONS OF ERTH

The Parish Council of St Erth readily agreed to the stipulation.

Is anyone tempted to compose a full set of lyrics?!

On a similar theme somewhere I've got a copy of "Silent Audit" #Sign it right, check it right#

Here's a starter:

Oh HST, Class 43
How lovely are your contours.
Your livery in blue and grey
In sun or storm best to this day.
Oh HST, fine sight to see
It matters not the TOC

I'm sure others will better that piece of doggerel!

EDIT: Oops, forgot it was to do with stations

Silent Knightsbridge.

If we can cheat with historic names, In the Bleak Midcalder (now Kirknewton).

Anyone think of one for Adeste Fideles as opposed to O Come All Ye Faithful?

Not a station itself, but if you're in Edinburgh when the Highland sleeper splits/joins...

Away on a Pacer, No Rest for His Head
The Little Lord Jesus, Wishes he was Dead

He's going from Sheffield, to Wakefield Kirkgate
The Little Lord Jesus is going to be Late

The Engine is Blowing, the Toilet's a Sty
"I Could've caught that Voyager at 09:59"

But though this trains awful, at least twice as old
My nose is still working, I've not got a cold

So Little Lord Jesus, Stuck on Northern Rail
makes the Second Coming, one big Epic Fail
