The incident has been mentioned by local people on Twitter as being at the foot crossing near Black Combe School in Millom. Multiple accounts say a woman has died. It's very sad (and just before the holidays), perhaps especially if this was a foot crossing accident. I'm not familiar with the area, but Google Maps does show a foot crossing there, with the track taking a steady curve to the South-West but with a very straight section up to Millom Station to the North-East.

I wonder where it happened? Between Millom and Silecroft, or just north of Foxfield?

That was what I was wondering. Based on what's been doing the rounds on Twitter, which may or may not be reliable, it was at the location I mentioned in Millom. As I say, this may not be true!

This report gives the location as Moor Farm Crossing that serves Moor Farm at Millom.
The incident has been confirmed as Moor Farm Crossing, on the North-bound track. Considering the position of the crossing, slight curve of the line, and residential area quite close to the line, this could have been predicted.
The woman killed was 85 years old and local, thoughts go to any family she may have had.

It is only normal to expect that anyone of 85 years of age will not have the same reactions to danger as those much younger, as my wife and I have relatives in our age group that are of that age and can bear this out to be true from personal experiences. Hearing and eyesight can also both be diminished by great age.
