I have a mate with a lot Rail Travel Vouchers

Just a quick question, would there be a problem if he gave some and I use them, as I make far more rail journeys than he does!

I think vouchers are transferable aren't they? Just tickets that aren't and even then you can buy them for someone else.

When we discussed this question in May, here, I suggested that Rail Travel Vouchers (RTVs) are Transferable, but others quite correctly pointed to the wording "Not Transferrable" on the front of many of these RTVs.

Where that restriction is printed on them, then it's clear that the restriction applies.

Oh I forgot about that discussion - its still nonsensical though.

But you can buy a ticket for someone else using RTVs. They're just not transferable once they've been bought for a particular person

Yes but what Dave is saying is that you can't give the vouchers to the other person, but as you say you can buy tickets for that person and then give them to the person, who I assume inherits the refund rights and thence you see the problem. ;)

To comply with the rules, Dave's mate needs to buy the tickets for Dave. Although if the RTVs were transferred, chances are the TOC won't be any the wiser anyway
