Any East Midlands Trains local service pretty much could be one. However Derby to Crewe is all booked 153s bar a peak diagram that's a 158 so that will be unusual. There's usually a mix of 156 and 153 on Matlock to Nottingham services. Otherwise, the usual Lincoln to Leicester, Grimsby, Skegness to Nottingham, Robin Hood line etc will drop them.

They occasionally venture to Liverpool or Norwich due to a 158 shortage, of which I believe there has been a bit of one of late.

I've noticed that the regular 158 diagram on the Lincoln - Leicester service has been substituted for a 156 or 2x153 combination over the last couple of weeks, so it would appear 158s were in short supply. The diagram has returned to normal from today, I believe.

They're very hit and miss at present. Some days there's 2 158s out, sometimes 1, sometimes none. There was a pair of dogboxes on a 156 diagram on it today for example.
