Named lines in South London

Does anyone know exactly the lines/routs in south london. I know the sutton loop but is there names of any others? I find the rail map confusing because it just distinguishes operating company rather than route.

Well that's a bit of an open question. Anywhere specific? Or just South London?

From Victoria towards East Croydon is the up/down fast/slow Brighton
From London Bridge to East Croydon is the up/down fast/slow London Bridge
From London Bridge to Peckham Rye via South Bermondsey is the up/down South London
From Peckham Rye to Battersea Park is the Atlantic line and the Catford Loop
From Peckham Rye to Sutton and beyond via Streatham and Mitcham is the up/down Portsmouth
From Balham to Norwood Jct is the up/down Crystal Palace
From Norwood Jct to Sutton via West Croydon is the up/down Wallington

That sort of thing?

A lot of lines don't have names as such.

There is the Catford Loop (listed here) and the South London Line (now operated by London Overground and joins with the West & East London Lines).

Some of the main lines radiating from London are referred to as names such as the Brighton Main Line, South West Main Line and so on.

I don't think any of these names get the sort of publicity as lines elsewhere in the country, in many cases they will generally only be used by the rail industry itself.

the sutton loop is actually the up and down ST Helier. They all have names. But as said will only be known by those in the rail profession or those with rail maps like the quail books.

Is a bit confusing, I was trying to make a map that showed all the different lines in different colours so making i a bit simlar to the tube map, being a bit of a geek basically lol

You have the Sutton and Mole Hill lines, Kingston Loop Line if thats what you mean

Lewisham - Hayes was (and may be) called the Mid Kent line (historical connections way back) .....

Which is, as it happens, an excellent example of railway internal and public names differing, because what is usually referred to as the 'SWML' by passengers has the engineers line reference of BML...

... and what is generally known as the 'Brighton Line' has the engineers line reference of VTB...

From Charing Cross/Cannon Street/London Bridge:
North Kent line via Greenwich
North Kent line via Blackheath
(The two lines merge west of Charlton and then serve Woolwich/Dartford/Gravesend etc.)
Bexleyheath line (Leaves the NK via Blackheath at Blackheath to go via Bexleyheath to Slade Green/Dartford.)
The Dartford Loop Line(Comes off at Hither Green and passes via Bexley to Dartford)

Blackfriars to Loughborough Junction - the two tracks which continue to Herne Hill are 'Holborn Slow', the two tracks which continue to Cambria Jct are 'Holborn Fast'

Whereas the lines through St Pancras low level are the Up and Down Moorgate.

Not quiet right, the lines through blackfriars are the up and down snow hill.
