Routeing Help please

Hi all,

Hoping you could help me. I've been trying to figure out the routeing guide but I'm not sure I understand all of the information.

Hypothetically (and ignoring the extra time taken etc), if I was wishing to travel from Minster (Ramsgate Group) to Sandwich, would I be able to do so via Ashford International or is my only option to go via Ramsgate ?

The map references I'm given are DV and LK but, to be honest I really don't get it !

They share a common routeing point (Ramsgate Group,) so the permitted route is the shortest route between the two. So you either go direct or more likely, via Ramsgate.

The first paragraph of Step 3 of the Routeing Guide instructions is the reference point for this rule.

Ah, I see, because they both have a common routeing point. Interesting.

What happens if stations have more than one routeing point in common - is that also the shortest distance or are either valid ?

Section F of the Routeing Guide states on Page F7:

If there is a common routeing point, the permitted route is the shortest route or a route which is longer by no more than 3 miles. Also permitted is the route followed by direct trains to and from the common routeing point if the journey is made on those trains.

Any common routeing point may be used provided that direct trains are used between the origin and the routeing point, and the routeing point and the destination. This ceases to be a permitted route if direct trains are not used and the route is more than 3 miles longer than the shortest route.

Any good ones in the South West

I guess the loopholes only really work on routes where there are a variety of different ways to get from B to C (Using a ticket from perhaps A to D).

All that has been said so far is that a Minster-Sandwich ticket doesn't cover that journey. A return from Minster to Dover (out via Ashford, back via Ramsgate) would, but it's hard to tell how useful a specific suggestion would be in a hypothetical situation.
