05:32 it was booked for

I never thought it would run for one minute, it would be one incredible relief service if it had. Live Departure Boards was showing it as running and still exists (but is cancelled) according to my XC app! ;)

I get it now. I checked tomorrow's timetable and couldn't see it, but if it was a relief than that makes a bit more sense!

Amazing effort by Network Rail if they have got Cowley Bridge open again already!

It isn't open, think it's LDB playing silly wotsits. XC's network is a disaster today - no trains between Darlo and York to add to the continuing problems in Devon, which were supplemented by a landslip at Teignmouth! This weather needs to give it a rest!

In the morning, closer to Oxford the tracks were covered in water and the water levels by the track in some areas would only have needed a little encouragement to spill over, but it wasn't too bad as the train went at a slower speed and was 'only' around 10 minutes late in to BHM.

Not sure what might happen tommorrow, if it doesn't subside.

Have the tracks been washed about three miles north by all the rain then? :P

(For reference, Chard Junction isn't in Chard, it is/was the junction for Chard.)

Err, I was being lazy, but well spotted nonetheless.

As for being washed 3 miles north, knowing the damage caused elsewhere may I suggest that it is not an impossibility. ;) The residents might welcome the railway back after 50 years.

im assuming EC had enough HSTS North of the problems to keep things running up this way? Came down the HML earlier and the up Chieften passed the 17:22 INV - GLQ in its normal place and just about its normal time. Also passed the last Aberdeen HST at Dalmeny which I think may have been roughly 30 down.

Anyone seen details of the planned revised East Coast timetable for today?. National Rail had advised that details would be provided overnight but no details seem to have been posted other than a general advice of delays.

Perhaps they have decided to run a normal service. When I travelled out of York last night at about 2000 most East Coast trains were pretty much back to normal, give or take a few minutes.

Is very frustrtating how some TOCs seem to fail to keep passengers updated with any meaningful details. The National Rail and East Coast websites both made references to amended services for today without giving any details (the links purely took you through t a more detailed description of where the disruptions were. Similarly Northern Rail are making reference on their website to amended timetables on the Durham Coast line but no timetable details http://www.northernrail.org/news/7148 .

It is recognised that when incidents occur events can change and amended timetables are not an exact science but what use is it to anybody to simply refer to amended timetables and then give no details whatsoever?

And on the other end of the scale fgw set up a new page on their website dedicated to the flooding and included pictures of the railway line, sorry I mean rivers!

It is an issue that Passenger Focus raises on a regular basis. One can only conclude that many ToCs do not actually bother to look at their own websites.

There is currently one path per hour north of York, for East Coast services only. All XC anglo-Scots caped at Leeds, Reading-Newcastles being turned at York. Apparently floodwater from fields has run off onto the running lines. Terrific!

Does anyone know the current situation with Exeter to Tiverton? It's closed again today though they saying they were hoping it would be open today yesterday so they must be pretty close? I notice there are a few non-cancelled FGW and XC services from Plymouth and Exeter through to Paddington and Leeds this afternoon on the live departure boards.

I think they're hoping to have Cowley Bridge Jn open at around teatime. The bad news is there's been a landslip near Standish so XC's southbounds were running via Severn Tunnel Jn. I presume they still are?

And it seems problems at Teignmouth still, as well.

Oh great! I've missed that, although one thing I've not mentioned is flooding at Hinksey causing delays to the Bournemouth/Southampton services. Today is not going well!

Grand Central has cancelled several services today including the upcoming 1321 Kings Cross to Sunderland but you wouldn't know about it by looking at their webiste, except for issues at Hartlepool! http://www.grandcentralrail.com/

The down main at Standish is shut until Monday so all southbound XCs will divert via STJ for the foreseeable. Deep joy!

Problems are actually a landslip at Westerleigh Junction. One XC & FGW Sprinter trapped too.

Landslip on to rail lines near Bristol disrupts trains The landslip affected services between Birmingham and Bristol
Rail services between Birmingham and south-west England have been disrupted after a landslip near Bristol.

Network Rail engineers said earth had moved to within 1ft of rail sleepers at Westerleigh and had blocked services towards Bristol.

A spokesman said two services - travelling to Weymouth and Plymouth - were trapped by the landslip but released shortly before 10:30 GMT.

Cheltenham to Bristol services are currently being diverted via Wales.

Network Rail said the line towards Birmingham remained open, but the slip would also affect services between Bristol Parkway and Swindon.

Teignmouth should apparently be sorted out by today, but it has led to several reversals & movements - 4 reverals & crossovers in total, with 2 in Teignmouth & 2 in Dawlish Warren. HSTs vice local services too.
