Taunton to Exeter line now closed tomorrow as well due to major infrastructure damage. Also Taunton-Castle Cary closed, with Taunton-Paddington trains diverted via Bristol.

Though Exeter to Yoevil is re-opening tommorrow.

Potential diversionary route?

I know there will be some FGW HST drivers who can do Cary–Yeovil–Exeter (as it's a fairly standard diversionary route), but the question is will they be available? And will there be adequate paths through SWT's hourly weekday timetable?

Pretty sure some XC drivers can as well as they've used it as a diversionary route in the past as well.

Is it? Last I'd heard it took a big hit on Saturday night with 40 tonnes of materials that had been placed to protect the worksite washed away...

Most trains not stopping Pinhoe,Feniton and Whimple. They do have a bus but is is ridiculously badly timed so you have to wait 40+ mins at Honiton for the train. Also it doesn't make sense as Eastbound trains get the usual 16 mins Honiton to Exeter Central but Westbound they get 26 minutes. This extra 10 mins should help SWT avoid delay minutes(!) but it is also more than enough time to stop at all 3 stations. I agree stopping both ways on this timetable would be too risky but 1 way is better than none.
Given fGW remain blocked I wonder how many coaches will be on each train as you would hope 9.

Also given the extra weight of an HST would they be allowed to divert right now and also I'm guessing Network Rail would want the bear minimum service running to finish repairs.

The line will be opening with a service every 2 hours between Exeter and Yeovil with most trains not calling at Pinhoe, Whimple and Feniton. I highly doubt any FGW services will be diverted along this route, especially as a normal SWT service cant even operate.

SWT statement on the WoE line - http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/so... limited service on west of england line.aspx

The incident mentioned above at Fiskerton is a Network Rail engineers train "breaching the level crossing" at said location - taken from a BBC reporters Twitter account.

BBC Travel news is reporting No trains Middlesborough - Whitby and delays York - Malton due to flooding.
Any details anyone?

Replacement buses between Sleights and Whitby (originally was Glaisdale and Whitby) and 30 minute delays via Malton.

They had some sent Bristol–Westbury–Taunton; don't think they've been via Yeovil for a few years now.

Westbury is the only diversionary route that Plymouth XC have now - plus the weekend services to Newquay in the summer. All other booked work is from Penzance to New St ( via Selly Oak or Camp Hill).

So which drivers do the diversions via Severn Tunnel Junction and via Worcester/Stourbridge?
Bristol & Derby for STJ (exclusively I think)and Stourbridge plus New St also do Stourbridge and their 170 Drivers sign Cardiff -but not via the tunnel.

Managed to get from Cardiff to Bristol okay this morning, although the fields in Monmouthshire are very watery! Not enough to cause major disruption, but a very large area is covered in water!!

FGW services from London to Wales are experiencing +30 minute delays this morning. 0527 London to Swansea was 25 mins late, also 0645 London to Swansea was about half hour down at Bristol Parkway because of diverted route.

Glad I didn't try- Hitched a lift across the bridge instead!

Six Probably - 9 won't fit in the platforms at most of the WoE stations (back when it was loco hauled IIRC the rear coach was often of the end 3x159 is longer still)

Why would FGW be calling at any of the stations on the route?

The limiting length would likely be the length of the loops and Axminster and wherenot.

I think he is implying they will be wedged full of FGW pax as well a SWT ones so would benefit from extra capacity.

Newark Northgate to Nottingham - Due to an incident at Fiskerton.

This was related to an incident at Fiskerton crossing involving an RHTT train.

There was talk of limited services being resumed at around 1830, but efforts were being hampered by train crew being in the wrong places.

AFAIK FGW are not taking the Yeovil route tomorrow at least so the only Westcountry to London route will be with SWT

On a train...somewhere!
ECML has been in chaos, added to by early morning cable theft on the Durham Coast which was just about cleared before the start of play. Some major delays with the closure south of York around lunchtime and the ongoing ESR imposed at Cowton. GC have suffered a fair deal, 1A60 terminating at Stevenage with a wiper defect, N92 then started from Peterborough only to be terminated at Doncaster then eventually making it to York before carrying forward as 1G92 to Newcastle after a culvert at Seaham collapsed. 1A65 was terminated at York but the set made it to Kings X in time to work 1N94 90L which is also running mainline from Northallerton. 1N96 left London almost 2hrs late awaiting inward crew and will also run through to Newcastle. Various West Riding services also delayed and 1A69 is currently somewhere en-route to London!

Another eventful day :(
