Just checked National Rail and the 1311 departure looks to have been cancelled, with the train terminating at Sheffield. However things aren't great as the bus has got lost and I am having to direct him, not even at Meadowhall yet due to bad traffic.

Wow, thats looking properly bad.

Are we potentially looking at the disruption continuing all next week?

FGW are currently saying they are unable to say when services will resume. Its highly likely when the floods go down, the balast will have washed away as well, and be in need of repair/ replacement.

From the aerial shots with a Zoom on Cowley Bridge Junction that the BBC have just aired I'd say a couple of days after the waters subside. With more rain forecast for tonight I'd say middle of next week at the earliest...

Fingers crossed. Next trip through there for me not until Friday.

Hmm i had just checked too.. :/ There appears to be a complete lack of knowledge of what is going on.
Good luck, just get him on m18 and forget the intermediate stations.

Just checked again and the train appears to have gone afterall, about 15 late! Luckily this bus was meant to be fast anyway and we're on the motorway now so everything should be okay now.

Could be worse then! Good luck!

The BBC have published aerial shots of the Exe from just north of Exeter St Davids to Cowley Bridge on the website...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20484594

At the start you can see the floodgates shut protecting the city and diverting the water into the Flood channels. But the situation at Cowley does not look good

Source?

Highways Agency makes no mention of the M5 closure. The M5 was closed overnight between J25-J26 but reopened early this morning. Can't find any information regarding the A396 or NDLR being currently closed.

The line between Masborough Junction and Aldwarke Junction is still blocked so all services are. routed through the single track leading to Rotherham. No information on when it will reopen. My train just went through and is full although not wedged. Lots of people from Donny due to earlier cancellations.

It looks like NR have (possibly) just fixed the major electrical supply issues that knocked out the signalling between Purley and Redhill in the last hour or two. Hopefully, the Brighton Mainline can now get back to normal. I have no idea if this and yesterday's signalling problems at Purley were caused by waterlogging, but, given the general state of dampness around the area yesterday, and the high winds and heavy-ish rain overnight, I would not be surprised.

Services are still unable to use Platform 3 at Redhill and Gatwick Express (which Southern amusingly refers to as "Railair" on its website) services are suspended.

Only one road is open on the line between Dorking and Horsham due to a landslip, and Southern say that services will be hourly-only for the next week (possibly less time if things go well for NR) as a result. It should be pointed out that trains are run at a frequency of 1tph in each direction off-peak anyway.

Lastly, expect more flooding in the Southwest as a band of heavy, prolonged rain showers is starting to hit. Bother.

Service suspended between Hastings and Eastbourne due to an obstruction on the line at Hastings, also suspended from Hastings to Tunbridge Wells, but can run in the opposite direction.

GatEx to resume at 5PM.

...or 1750hrs if you're going in the GTW>VIC direction!

Then those customers are in for a very good saving !!! Or are being royally ripped off by getting sold tickets for the GatEx and then having to use a normal Southern service, even though they could of just got a Super Off-Peak.

Quite!

It appears services are largely back to normal with regards to the Redhill power/signalling failures.

Southern have what I call the "Yellow Box of Doom" on their homepage advising passengers of the situation (basically as I posted above) regarding the Dorking-Horsham line.

The fact that trains are running is an improvement. The line between Castle Cary and Taunton has been closed all day.

Still raining in the SW ( and if I stick my head out, it's raining horizontally atm ) - flood warnings are gradually going down in severity but that water still has to go somewhere, I wouldn't expect much improvement in service if you're coming down here soon.

And to think here in the East we're complaining about wheelslip. When you see what is going on elsewhere, we have very little to moan about. Thoughts with those poor souls who are flooded.

Looks as though there is another landslip between Bristol and Weston, probably Flax Bourton again. I've just arrived Temple Meads on an extended coach from Exeter to Tiverton Parkway, there must have been 500 people in the subway to the lower approach road queuing for westbound coaches. FGW Padd to West of England trains planned to run to Tiverton Parkway have been terminating at Temple Meads to add to all the XC passengers being dumped there.

The only way of getting about down here is by boat. Had to go out this morning, due to the number of road closures due to flooding a 8 mile each way journey became 19 miles each way. All Cornwall branch lines scheduled a service this morning was cancelled due to flooding, assuming this was an issue to the depot rather than the branch lines.
Looe station is to be closed for several days due to flood damage according to FGW twitter feed.

Do you know how the rest of the line is doing, out of interest?

I dont, FGW twitter simply said Looe station closed for the next few days. I should imagine it will be completely closed though
