What Went Wrong in Northampton Today?

I went into MKC to travel up to Northampton today and found no services running to Northampton at all - does anybody have any further info? Only one LM service to Euston was running at all, apart from that it was all VT. I didn't hang around long enough to investigate, I just ran out the front and jumped on the 33 instead!

Was a bridge bash at Berkswell at about 9AM, continued to cause disruption until the afternoon - should explain the problems.

Well ok, in MK we tend to treat Northampton as 'up' just because it's looming over us on a map!

When I travelled was about 13:00 so if there was nothing else going on it must've been Berkswell I guess.

It seems strange that a bridge strike at Berkswell would affect trains that much from Northampton.

When there are problems that far north LM would normally run services from Euston to Northampton or Rugby only.

Maybe the lack of train crew and the positioning of available crew didn't help

Trains were running northbound fine, so probably got stuck north of Berkswell without the opportunity to go back south.

The log suggest most delays were not caused by the bridge bash, which would have hardly registered with just a few trains under caution, but a LM 350 being driven to a halt in the Berkswell neutral section and wreaking havoc..,

The very notion of LM service recovery is a good giggle though

Very important if your job takes you onto the track, or anything to do with working documents or passing on information.
