If you were some unexpected foreigner in the country and would like to get a train to Basingstoke from Banbury you might just get on the 11:55 to Bournemouth! Looking at the timetable (LDB) for Banbury I find this:

That's one of FGW's money raising schemes; when there is an ex TPEX 158 on that service, all the customers in the first class area get a penalty fare!

The links will remain active for a few hours after the train terminates.

On a similar note, I've seen departure boards at Halifax listing Bradley Junction on the list of stops for a service heading to Huddersfield.

You think thats bad along the South Coast between Brighton and Fareham FGW and SWT operate alternate trains at the same hourly interval to Cardiff and Reading Basingstoke. Both trains are often operated with Ex Transpennine Express Class 158s.

The SWT has chargeable First Class and Penaly Fares the First Great Western has no First Class or Penalty Fares on identical trains. Its no wonder normals are confused!

It's not a "bug", it's just the way the system is programmed. All the calling points are in there - they're just not shown! You can make one be shown but it won't give a time.

e.g. the first timing point for all trains out of King's Cross is Belle Isle (KNGXBEL) so you can put KNGXBEL in the URL for any train out of KGX, and that will work.

1) There are no 1st class fares. A PF is in addition to a fare that has not been paid, there is no additional fare to be paid.
2) FC cannot be enforced on trains that are shown in the timetable as only having Standard Class facilities.

I agree with your principle that Farce have probably had the idea. I bet they were gutted when they found out they couldn't do it.

Thats the point, it is accidently advertised with FC facilites, & there is a FC fare for a majority of the journey

or are you saying it's advertised as having FC between PGN and EXD, but not from EXD to BNP?

Also, are you sure people have been chinged? If so, this could be one for the ORR to investigate.

Farce can have their PF scheme stopped if they are found to be acting illegaly.
