Ticket To U1245 Londn

Hi,

I have a Anytime Day Single ticket from Petts Wood to Londn U1245.

The station I want to end up at is London Euston.

I gather that this ticket entitles me to travel to a London Terminal, and then a single journey on the tube.

However, in the route section of the ticket it states ANY PERMITTED, with no + to indicate a cross london journey.

I always thought that theese U**** Londn tickets had + in there route, but I may be wrong.

I recently read that tickets with route NOT UNDERGROUND had their + taken off them. Has this now happened to U**** tickets.

I this ticket valid for travel on the underground ?

Welcome to the forum. I don't know the exact situation regarding whether or not the cross-London-marker (the cross you describe) has been removed from such tickets, but I can confirm that a ticket to U1245 does exactly what you need it to do, so don't worry about that. The whole point of a ticket to U**** is that it's a ticket to an underground station destination.

By definition the ticket is valid on London Underground as it is issued to a destination of any London Underground station in Zones 1-5.

You're overcomplicating the matter. Not Underground tickets have no relevance to the ticket you hold. If a ticket is issued to a U Zone then it's going to be valid on the Underground.

These are "Train-Tube" tickets, the LU equivalent being cunningly named "Tube-Train" tickets. They were introduced as part of the shift to zonal pricing for NR journeys inside the Travelcard Area and give one Single or Return journey (as appropriate) on the tube within the relevant zones.

They're issued from (or to) the relevant zones to (or from) the relevant NR station, though where you're starting and ending at an NR station that isn't a London terminal, they should be issued as point-to-point tickets as normal.

So, for example, a ticket from Selhurst (Zone 4) to Holborn (Zone 1) would be issued as Selhurst - U1234. Similarly, a ticket from Cockfosters (Zone 5) - Wembley Stadium (Zone 4) issued at an NR ticket office, would be issued as U1245 - Wembley Stadium.

They don't have a cross-London indicator because they don't need one, as said indicator is purely used for journeys involving a transfer between stations by tube, such as Wembley Stadium to Brighton, which is settled under a different agreement.

If I have a ticket, for example Peterborough to Zone U12* can I use this to travel to Clapham Junction as that's in zone 2, or is it only to London Underground stations in zones 1-2 only

LU/DLR stations only.

The reason I ask is that at my local station Surrey Quays (London Overground, no LU/DLR), I've witnessed the TIS bring up a U12*-origin ticket when the origin of a journey is entered as Surrey Quays.

London Overground is what you might call a very grey area. Whilst it is undoubtedly NR, TfL want you to view it as part of their network, so in most areas if LU accept it then so does LO. Add to that the fact that Surrey Quays was an Underground station until the ELL re-opened a couple of years ago and I can believe that U* tickets would be valid on that line.
