Note that the list is slightly different for staff travel purposes, and different again for LU Staff Pass validity. Don't you love consistency?

Holders of NR status passes get the following LU validity:

  • Eastern Region:
    • Metropolitan and District Lines:
      • Moorgate - King's Cross St. Pancras
      • Tower Hill - Upminster, but not at intermediate stations between Tower Hill and Bow Road
    • Northern Line:
      • King's Cross St. Pancras - Mill Hill East/High Barnet via Archway, but not at intermediate stations between King's Cross St. Pancras and Highgate
    • Central Line:
      • Liverpool Street - Epping, but not at intermediate stations between Liverpool Street and Stratford
      • Liverpool Street - Hainault, via Woodford or Newbury Park, but not at intermediate stations between Liverpool Street and Stratford
    • Piccadilly Line:
      • Finsbury Park - King's Cross St. Pancras, but not at intermediate stations
    • Victoria Line:
      • Finsbury Park - King's Cross St. Pancras
    • Docklands Light Railway:
      • Tower Gateway - Limehouse
  • London Midland Region:
    • Metropolitan and District Lines:
      • Moorgate - King's Cross St. Pancras
      • If endorsed for Chiltern availability, Baker Street - Watford, Chesham or Amersham, but not at intermediate stations between Baker Street and Harrow-on-the-Hill
      • Earl's Court - Kensington (Olympia)
    • Bakerloo Line:
      • Paddington - Harrow & Wealdstone
  • Southern Region:
    • Metropolitan and District Lines:
      • Putney Bridge - Wimbledon
      • Turnham Green - Richmond
    • Waterloo and City Line:
      • Waterloo - Bank
  • Western Region:
    • Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City and District & Circle Lines:
      • Paddington - Notting Hill Gate (Circle Line), for through journeys between Paddington and East Acton or westwards, but not at intermediate stations
      • Paddington (Suburban) - Hammersmith (H&C)
      • Earl's Court - Kensington (Olympia)
      • Baker Street - Watford, Chesham or Amersham, but not at intermediate stations between Baker Street and Harrow-on-the-Hill
    • Central Line:
      • Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip - White City and in the case of through journeys between East Acton or westwards and Paddington; also between White City and Notting Hill Gate, but not at intermediate stations.

Cheers,

Barry

Thank you to all who responded.

Can a 'not und' ticket be used on these stretches of route?

Not sure if this is just theoretical, or if there is an actual 'not und' ticket that could go over one of these stretches.

LU Staff passes are valid on:
Amersham - Marylebone
Finsbury Park - Moorgate (via Drayton Park)
Fenchurch St - Upminister
Stratford - Liverpool St
Kentish Town - Elephant & Castle/London Bridge
Euston - Watford Jn

Bus Operators passes (purple/grey) aren't valid on these routes however - they only have the normal TfL Rail and Bus validity.

If it is routed Not Underground, dual availability on the 'Thameslink' route is definitely out (there are tickets routed 'Not Underground' and this is specifically mentioned in the list), but to be honest I think the answer is fairly obvious for every other route.

I know this is a big ask, and I am being very tight, but as an annual season ticket holder between Wickford and London Terminals (Liv St), it's a shame that when I touch in with my PAYG Oyster for central line travel to the west end, the system doesn't recognise that my season is valid as far as Stratford and only charge me from Liv St to wherever I travel in Z1.

I really didn't like having to pay a z3 to 1 tube fare when the trains were out due to works between stratford and liverpool st. I know I could have "carded" out and "touched back" in, but I didn't fancy going up to the ticket office at Liverpool Street.

I'll set you the challenge of getting a TfL Staff Pass to open the gates at London Bridge; "57: Station not listed on Period Ticket" comes up whenever I've seen one attempted.

Acceptance by gates doesn't determine validity.

Further to that, trying to find a member of FCC staff who is operating said gateline...

Then even when found said member of gateline staff, having them know that it is valid, this is much worse when coming in the opposite direction when some will even attempt to PF the travelling passenger...

By that logic Kentish Town shouldn't accept them, nor should Watford Junction just in case the passenger travels north, or Ammersham for the same reason.

I suppose the logic is that by far the majority of services at London Bridge (BR platforms) or Clapham Jct do not accept such passes, or that it is too difficult to program them. Kentish Town & Amersham gatelines are operated by LUL.

I did once have a 'punch up' with the woman at Clapham Jct when the Overground was running from platform 17 and the woman insisted I could only go to platform 1, but I don't know whether she was trying to be helpful or not (her tone of voice certainly wasn't the one I'd expect to be used when being helped, but maybe there were cultural differences).

I understand the point you are making though, as I would have expected that it would be possible to trust that holders of such tickets know where they are valid!

Mine didn't work the gates at New Cross, but did at Forest Hill. Usually it's a minor to ask the person at the gateline to let you through!

Well, if we're saying that NR tickets are valid on LU from kings cross to finsbury park then I don't see that it is obvious at all - this is the whole point of my question!

Well I'd have thought the words 'Not' and 'Underground' being printed in the route field would be a minor hint.

That is one way of looking at it. The other way is that rail tickets happen to be valid on the listed stretches.

Possibly because New Cross is managed by SET, but Forest Hill LO?

It's not enough for some people! That said, I was using a Not Underground routed Priv Season ticket on the Underground quite legitimately, but then I knew what I was doing!

In that case, we could see similar issues from December at Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham which will continue to be managed by the respective TOC's after the ELL extension opens.

On NRE website

Cuffley (CUF) to London Terminals

Available Standard Class Adult Season Tickets (Travel is allowed by any route option shown by the Journey Planner where the journey can be made using only one ticket.)

Using National Rail services you can travel to / from the following London stations: Old Street [OLD], London Kings Cross [KGX], Moorgate [MOG]

There's a specific easement to allow tickets to London Terminals from the ECML/Hertford Loop to work (in practice, there's a chance of a 'seek assistance' when tried - but you'll be let through without fuss) on the Northern Line to Moorgate (and Old Street).

I presume this is because services to Moorgate via NR don't operate at all times (evenings/weekends) and a London Terminals is valid to OLD/MOG just as it is to KGX.

For this to apply to other places, wouldn't the stations covered by LU need to be classed as terminal stations?

This morning I bought a london terminals return ticket, got off at highbury and islington and did one stop on the Victoria Line to Kings Cross. My ticket let me out of the Underground no problem.

Like many people, I've been looking for a public-facing official document (so not The Manual) that details the Kings Cross - Moorgate tube interavailability.

It was confirmed publicly on FCC's website in FCC's June 2010 Meet the Directors (question 94). A handy URL to refer to if you're need something to back yourself up. Sadly it only mentioned the specific example of Peterborough to London Terminals
