Hi everyone

We are going to the music fest on Saturday

In terms of getting the most haulage - where on the route can you not miss the train coming in the opposite direction - some tight timings so want to know where to get off so as not to miss the one the other way

From Keighley to Oxenhope get off at damems and you cant miss the train coming down back to Keighley. From Oxenhope to Keighley, get off at Oakworth and you can't miss the train coming up to Oxenhope.
It is single line with a loop so even if it is running late you can't miss the changover.

Hi everyone

A brilliant day very good trains and the beer in the jubilee buffet was very good

However one observation- it would have been quite easy to get on to the platform at any of the stations.

Because at no point thro the day did anyone ask for our tickets - yes the wrist bands were checked at the engine shed

But we could have travelled all day for free - is the railway losing revenue or is it the case that they are more interested in the beer side than the travel side ?

Any thoughts

After a great day out at the festival - just wondering on the issue of beer tickets.

The whole day was awash with many people with handfuls of beer tickets selling them to whoever may want to buy them ?

I am sure all the people who volunteer at the railway are trustworthy but is the whole operation just a tad on the slack side, is it open to abuse ?

As one Volunteer told us that no one knows who has the tickets and how many,equally there is no record of the money taken.


This must be wrong and there must be someone who keeps a tally ?

Are my observations wrong and indeed is the Volunteer mis guided and in fact people do know who takes what ?

Not another one of those threads, please! There are loads of things people could have done, and not just on railways, but in many areas of life, e.g. on the roads. ("No-one checked my tax disc, I could have driven for free, there was no gateline at the petrol station, I could have got my petrol free, and there was no-one checking my speed on the roads I took, so I could have sped for free, and....")

I get your point but - if the railway can make more money instead of giving it away is that not good ?

But Yorkie - people do check tax discs, you do get prosecuted for fuel theft - you do get fined for speeding ! You do get prosecuted for traveling on the public network without a ticket..... But you can travel for free on a line which on almost every lamp post are posters asking for donations and funding and the line will close unless the bridges are repaired and they want money to do that ........

A bit of tightening here and there, can provide improved funding for such a special railway
