OK, I realise clue 4 is a bit of a minefield, so I will attempt to clarify. Basically, the "preceding station" in the first sentence and the "next station" in the second are the same station (as indicated by the "in one direction" and "in the other direction" parts).

Well, clue 3 seems to indicate Northern or Scotrail and not electrified, but clue 4 has me totally stumped, despite looking all through my rail atlas.

So a wild guess since i'll now only lose one point

It seems I confused everybody with my clue 4 and we're not getting anywhere with it, so perhaps I should just close it out now. My apologies for throwing that particular minefield in there.

The correct answer was Reddish North. There is currently an hourly service in the down direction which calls at Ryder Brow followed by Reddish North throughout the day (Mon-Sat), however there is a long gap in the off-peak when no service going in the Manchester direction from Reddish North doesn't skip Ryder Brow (a separate hourly service runs fast through Reddish from Romiley).
