Who can claim the longest commute

Just been reading a post about how long your commute to work is and what TOC's will allow to consider you for a position with them.
I have a friend who commutes daily from Burnley in Lancashire to York.
Depending on his start time it can take over two and a half hours.
Even in the early hours it can take an hour and 40 mins.
I just wondered if anyone knows of a longer commute that they have heard of.
P.S. He has done this for over 15 years!

That programme about the HST on the Beeb a few weeks back (which also featured Jimmy Savile quite heavily, bad timing there) featured a group of people who commuted Bristol to London every day - they had quite a little club going, breakfasting together on the way in in the morning, sharing wine and champers on the way home.

Birmingham to London (In the vicinity of Liverpool Street): About 120 miles, and 2 hours from my front door to the office. It's not at all bad for the distance it is; I have friends who work in Redditch and an obscure part of Coventry respectively, and they are out of the door, and back in again, at exactly the same time as I am, despite covering far less distance - They're not even leaving the West Midlands!

My commute is somewhere between 100 and 150 miles each way. Commuting involves a two mile journey to the station, use of an intercity train, the London Underground then another train or bus at the other end. Takes around 2.5 hours, but my "commute" is of a rather irregular nature that makes it doable.

I do it because I love the work I do and commuting is very good value for money.

Loads of the guys I work with on London Underground commute long distances cos the money is so good in London and the train fare is subsidised so an annual season ticket costs only 25% on NR and free travel in London.

My old boss used to live in Scotland and fly down to Stansted on a Monday morning, as I live near Stansted I picked him up at the airport on my way in along with another guy who flew in from Northern Ireland. Others I know at LU travel in daily from as far out as Southampton, Bristol, and Peterborough.

I used to commute 21 miles each way into Manchester. Journey time anything from 35 minutes to 1 hour 30. 4-5 times per week. Then 3-4 times per week when I went to NH. Combined with all the unsociable hours shifts it used to drive me insane. Now I moved to Blackpool only have a 2mile drive that takes just over 5 minutes and would never go back to commuting.

Come across Gillingham (Dorset) to North Wembley , and Leominster to Paddington in my time. Gruelling.

A Met line driver at Rickmansworth came in from Port Talbot daily.

Others I know at LU travel in daily from as far out as Southampton, Bristol, and Peterborough.

Once met a Piccadilly Line driver who lives in Peterborough.
