The Fotopic homepage now says....

Fotopic.net said:
Dear Fotopic Users

It’s official!

We are working on allowing access to Fotopic.net for former users to download their pictures.

Snappy Designs Ltd, the company running Fotopic.net, went into liquidation in 2011.
The assets of the company were bought by a private buyer in the hope of resuscitating Fotopic
and integrating it into their photo portal.

Subsequently this was found to be too costly an operation to set up and run. We reluctantly
abandoned our plans but were aware that users still had photographs on the site of which
they had no copies.

For technical reasons it has taken us a while to get Fotopic operational again.
We have only opened up Fotopic to allow existing users to view and download their pictures.
Once this process is completed the site will be shut down again. So if you have images you
want to retrieve please download them as soon as you are given access.

We are providing access on a rolling basis alphabetically on a trial basis, to make sure that
our servers can cope with the anticipated load. Initially only users with usernames beginning
with “0″ to “9″ or the letter “a” will be given access. Notification will be via email.
If all goes well we will soon roll out access to more users.

They are now letting people with usernames up to "C" have access. Long time to wait if my username is what I'm guessing it might have been.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Well they got as far as giving access to usernames beginning with D but now it seems to be kaputt, and has been so for the past 25 hours. Lots of reports on other forums from those that did get access that the download process was slow and prone to failure. The saga continues........with very little happening as usual.

I've just received the email from "Fotopic" (my username began with G). Has anyone actually managed to download their pics yet ?

And can you get acess to the descriptions etc as well, or is it just the images ?

All the best

Just thought I'd let people know

1) managed to download all my photos without any problems (at least I assume it's all of them - there's no way of checking !)

2) photo descriptions still appear on the actual site, but are not downloaded. I've worked out how to get the data off the site though (copy and paste, put's into a table in a Word document)

3) I can't see any way of accessing original gallery / collection descriptions (which is a pain)

Well it seems my username isn't what I thought it was! What I assumed was the correct first letter was granted access yesterday but the username won't work with any of the possible passwords that I know I would have used. Has anyone recieved the notification by email that was originally promised? I'm wondering if they are sending out new passwords with the email?

I know my user name was my actual name and surname. Cant remember whether I abbreviated my name though.
they are allowing access to R today, but no email received.
Does anyone know what their password criteria was, as I used the same password I use for this site for everything, unless criteria wasnt met with this password. That isnt working.

I'm wondering if they are sending out new passwords with the email?

With mine notification they sent out an encrypted version of the password, and a link to a site which would unencrypt it. Thought I would have to use it, but the 7th/8th guess at the password worked !
