Does anyone know how fast the DTG Reactions Test goes? What's it like?

I am taking the test on Monday (my second attempt, I failed the Group Bourdon last time so never got to take the DTG). I was just curious as to what the speed is roughly.

I have been playing Boppit to try and sharpen myself up but tbh I get absolutely thrashed by my little brother on it! He has managed to get onto Master! I'm only on Novice with a Hi-Score of 74!

I guess you can only do as well as you can on the day I suppose. I play computer games quite a lot but figured that just playing them wouldn't cut it really, hence the Boppit. I guess I am just nervous about it more than anything because it is my final attempt at it.

Looks very good actually! Been wanting to see if there is one about.

I keep failing it at the moment as I don't know what any of the keys are to use it?

Thanks for that.

Practiced it for a bit and seem to do ok on it. But it goes far too fast at the end. I think it goes at 496 (I take it that means 1 per 0.496 seconds?) For anyone who has done it, what speed on the program in the link does the real thing typically get to towards the end?

I was like you, no way could I keep up with the downloaded version but just practiced, practiced and practiced some more. Passed on the day and it was nowhere near as fast and scary as the downloadable version. Good luck for your tests mate, if you have done enough prep and your mind and body is 'wired' i.e. works like the way that is required then you should get through.

Thanks for that. Should help put my mind to rest a bit and get a decent sleep before tomorrow!

There should be a PDF file with the program. You can print off the keyboard and hit the 'keys' on that.

Tone, I know that the resourcing manager is away on leave this week so her deputy is dealing with this whole process and will be snowed under. I expect things may be a tad slower this week as a result so you may have to bear with them. Do logon to your First group account and check your status as mine changed prior to them contacting me.

I would imagine it will be another few weeks before they let people know the results of the shortlisting. They will have had thousands of applications, and it will take time to get through them all sorting the wheat from the chaff. Good luck to your friend. Keep an eye on the forum, when people start hearing back from them they'll start posting!

EDIT: Well, that shows how much i know. I've been invited to an interview next week! Eek! (i've already got a valid assessment centre pass from earlier in the year, hence why i've gone straight to interview stage.)

Can you tell me more about passing the assessments....did you have to pass all the assessments AND Structured interview to be able to just apply straight through to interview.....or is it just the assessments you had passed from earlier in the year??? Thanks....husband has passed the assessments but not the structured interview yet and i'd like to know if he can apply elsewhere if he fails or whether he'd have to do them all again.

Thanks!!!x

Hello, sorry to bother you, i've just read your thread and am a little relieved. I am waiting for my results from the first 3 tests which I completed on the 21st of last month. Even if i've not done enough, I just need to know either way. I'm a bit worried that I went to slow on the 'dials' questions but who knows lol :)

It'll be the "Part 1" assessment discussed earlier in the thread, namely the Group Bordon ("dots") test and "Trainability for Rules and Procedures" test. If it's the same as mine, you'll possibly be asked if you want to stay behind afterwards and trial another test (which doesn't count towards your scores for the assessment) for them.

Two important things to remember: Dress smartly, as per the e-mail/letter from First, and don't forget to take some form of photo ID such as a driving licence or passport.

Hmm.. But I've already passed my assessments with other TOC recently and waiting for the SI results. So was wondering what test it might be this Thursday with FGW.
And also training starts from November for FGW. So it could be reaction test and SI or managers interview hopefully. Hope I don't need to do all over again.

Had my managers interview. I think it went okay... Now the wait is back on. Thank you everyone for your help and advice. This forum has been an invaluable source for information and guidance. Best of luck to everyone going through this process as well.

Did they give you any indication of how long it would be until they let you know?
This waiting around is testing my patience to the maximum!!

They were estimating 2-3 weeks. I know im not looking forward to the wait but at least that horrible sick nervous feeling has pretty much gone.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Stage 1 which I did about a month ago now!

I completed stage 1 on the 21st last month, still haven't heard anything. Quite gutted really, especially if they're starting in November, I think that's game over for me lol

Guys, don't lose heart. There are training courses starting in the new year as well, they have had over 2000 applications so a lot to sift through. The November course will most likely be filled by those chaps who were in the early assessments etc and were successful, they would need to move quickly to get the November course people through and ready to go, the rest are probably going at a slower pace.

You could always phone resourcing for an update if you are concerned, I am sure they will have the results from OPC and be able to tell you if you have passed or not.

Hi guys,
I've just spoken to a lady from recruitment who told me its a slow process. They had 4000 applications for the posts. Wow. I mentioned that I'd completed stage 1 tests in September and she told me a November start was a bit optimistic from fgw. Hope is not lost! Good times...
