I got the 18.40 Durham to York east coast service which got to York 20 mins late which should have got to York at 19.31 then I have a advance booked on the 19.45 York to Manchester vic train but as I got into York at 19.50 I missed it.

So I am going on the 20.15 York to Manchester vic service but I have a ticket for Manchester pic to Macclesfield but this train that I'm getting gets to vic at 21.52 so I won't get to pic to get the last service to Macclesfield at 22.07 as its a bit of a walk.

So how do I stand with this as its not my fault the east coast train was 20 mins late that I had a advance ticket.

Who do I see to get me home to Macclesfield?

I am stressing out big time please help.

Do not worry. You appear to be covered, so you will be entitled to a taxi.

You need to make yourself (and all your tickets) known to the guard on the York-Man train. He will be able to advise better.

I have just done that but I'm not sure if to get off at vic or pic as if I get off at pic it's gets in after the last Macc train goes but this has just left York 6 mins late already.

In 15 minutes you'd be able to walk from Vic to Picc, I have done it in 10 minutes run/walk. But anything less and its impossible.

Do you think I can get from vic to picc in 14 mins?

What happens if I then try walking but then miss the Macc train from picc after walking from vic?

I have chatted to the guard and he said it takes about 20 mins to walk and see someone at picc who should sort something out.

But I don't hold much faith.

You should be able to make it in 14 minutes.

You're coming in on Platform 3, so no need to mess around with stairs, go straight across the station and out the side exit. Do you know the way from there?

Your train to Macclesfield will be leaving Piccadilly from Platform 4.

Unlikely unless you run and know exactly where you're going/have done it before. The walking route is not the most obvious, especially in the dark.

You may as well stay on the service as far as Piccadilly, as per your booked itinerary - also there will be more staff available at Picc to help you.

You'll be reversing at Huddersfield. I imagine there's plenty of recovery time being a Sunday and all.

Left hud 7 mins late. There is 2 mins of station time at victoria.

To the OP, what advice has the guard given? In my view, once you arrive at Piccadilly, he should be able to take you to customer services and get someone to arrange you a taxi.

The only thing he has told me when I saw him at York was to Go to see the station staff who should sort something out.

He has not even checked tickets so far.

Just checked the rail site on my phone and its saying due into vic at 9.56 so no way can I walk or run to picc in 11 mins.

I strongly advise that firstly, you do not panic, everything will be fine. Secondly I would also strongly advise that you remain on your train all the way to Piccadilly. Once you get there if you've missed the last Macclesfield train go to the booking office and explain what's happened to you they will arrange onwards transportation in the form of Taxi I'd imagine. Picc is a big station there will be staff around who will be able to help you. Don't worry :)

I just don't want to get to picc for them to say you could have walked it but we left Leeds 7 mins late.

That won't happen. The official walking interchange time between Victoria and Piccadilly is something like 30 minutes (which is clearly too long for walking to be an official interchange here).

Just coming into Vic now so no way I can walk that fast to picc now so staying on this train to picc and then see what they say and hope they sort it out as I don't have the funds for taxi.

Just one thing does it Matter that I have not just got one ticket for whole trip?

As I've got a advance single from Durham to York then again York to picc then one from picc to Macclesfield.

It just worked out cheaper that way.

There is a link to the 'Advance Fares FAQ' here, just in case they aren't sure at Piccadilly

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=48377

Where multiple train companies are used A-B and B-C with a change of train and ticket at B, it is still classed as a through journey in the event of delays provided they were booked in accordance with the minimum connectiion times for the station.

Well got home to Macclesfield after a few calls to East coast trains from the picc staff.

Taxi was booked for me so no need to worry after all.
