You could beat someone on a Coryton - Radyr train by walking slowly between the two stations.

You could probably beat a train from Starcross to Exmouth by swimming :P In this case, however, I suspect quite a few people do that journey on the train as it's the fastest way without getting wet.

Actually the nearest station to Exmouth on the other side of the Exe is Dawlish Warren, but from Starcross there is a ferry which would certainly beat the train.
