They did yesterday - presumably the passengers wanted to go to the castle...

Surprisingly, Windsor Castle is a home of royalty. And, surprisingly, it's in Windsor.

Thought they would've got an armed escort - close the roads - open the ticket barriers 1Q00 Buckingham Palace - London Victoria...

Shows how much I know about the inbred... erm.... not very nice people, that 'rule' this country.

The train went from Brighton to Wolverton via Windsor and Kensington. For 777fred;

A.) The two claret (not black) 67s have nameplates referring to the Queen and carry the Royal Sovereign symbol on their sides.

B.) Nobody is going to give you any advance info on this train - if anyone can get around the obfuscated data on trust and tops then they'd be severely disciplined as its not for public domain.

Apparently signallers are only given a few hours (or less) notice.

Also Riverside is the only one of the pair of Windsor stations they can run into.
Why? 'Cos some tw*t by the name of Dr Beeching decided to cut down the 5-platform (4 pax 1 goods) Windsor & Eton Royal Station to just 1 measly platform

There is, however still enough room to reinstate the additional track on the Central branch viaduct, but I personally do not see it happening ever again.

Well the room as been cut down I went to Eton Central on Monday 19th Feb and the single platform is empty but being re-signalled max speed on that branch is 35mph the viaduct can still hold two but quite narrow , also if they cleared the car park there (never to happen) they could run into there aswell being on a curve it would make a nice approach in summer:sleepy1:

They can't build a platform in 4 months. ;)

Signalling logic, trackwork, HSE papers all need to be done.

Since the redevelopment of Windsor & Eton Central, there is no chance of another paltform or line being added. Certainly not enough traffic to warrent more than 1 train every 30 minutes.

They should build a siding on the viaduct once its over the River though, that would at least allow for something ELSE on the branch at the same time. Silly that its single line all the way from Slough.

I dont think it can be re-doubled on the river bridge though as some HUGe pipework is routed across the side of the other track, so only one track can fit across it now.

True Lucazone.
I've got a trackplan pre-Beeching, it's most impressive. I'll see if I can dig it out and scan it in..

1 track Windsor to the start of the curve to Slough where it has 2. Believe this is used as a turnback/emergency siding.
Interestingly, there used to be a triangle at Slough where the newlooking houses are, with a MPD in the middle.
I'll look when i go to work soon, my path to work crosses over the Windsor branch

What is the need for the constant if not random emoticon's?

Also, Ramel... What depot?

Cheers.

Slough track layout (from memory and viewing the windsor branch from the A4).
The track on the windsor branch is single after the set of points.

Erm, I know this already? I've already said I do not see it being reinstated, there is no business case for double track on the windsor & eton central branch seeing as it only has 1 turbo shuttling up and down every half hour.

It won't happen.
