G'day,

I recently read that the SVR was having reliability issues with its home fleet and was wondering how many locos were likely to be available for the Autumn Steam Gala?

The problem is all but resolved now with 4566, 5164, 7812, 43106, 34053 and 2857 all serviceable.
42968 is awaiting the delivery of some new springs (which is imminent) and 1501 is currently doing running in trials.

The gala should be a good one - three 'new' locos for me to ride behind all being well (30120, 31806 and 34053). Considering there are less than 15 operational ex BR kettles I haven't had for haulage, that's pretty good. I'm even going to do an overnight!

Of the visiting locos 31806 and 7799 are now on site and home based 1501 is now in sevice.

Excellent news! Very much looking forward to next Friday, always a grand day out no matter what the line up. Just a pity that there is no Southern stock to go with the locos!

Finally, just one last question. Has 3650 returned to Didcot? Fingers crossed that it hasn't although I appreciate that hiring loco's is not cheap. Thanks for all the information that you have provided.

Yes it was. Another fantastic day at the SVR steam gala despite the rain; well worth the trip up from London. Well done the SVR!
