Correct - makes sense, given that the seats are the same type used in the FGW HST Mk3s.

I hope to god that they refurbish them with the seats they have put in the new 158s, Grammer seats a brilliant, the headrests are so comfortable. I have a horrible feeling they will use the seats that they have taken OUT of the old 158s, and we will end up with chapman seating in the Mark 3s, whoch is a sick joke tbh, superb long haul stock with seats that are used in 150s.

No, they are definitely NEW 158 style seats, like I said, like the ones in the FGW HST Mk3s.

If the stockpiles of broken and discarded seating outside Cardiff Canton is anything to go by, those Chapman seats aren't going anywhere fast!

Thank god :)

Will the buffet cars 10249 and 10259 still be in use with the new WAG, as they are Mark 3?

Who own these two cars? out of interest. Plus its still clear as mud how catering will operate,W/S worked without an on-board Chef,& provided
top notch food, has its called the enhanced(demoted from Premier) service does it really require the luxury of a chef now,we shall see

They should give the contract to Dot2Dot at Wrexham.
What a great facility she has made there out of the WSMR wreckage.

I thought they were Cargo-D owned, so I assume some part of DB own them outright now. I hope they are still used as they are very nice inside and are Mark 3s so replacing them would be stupid.

If DB own them. they will use them, unless a fly on the wall tells us different.
All they will need are a couple of upmarket industrial microwaves & a coffee machine, that is if the catering is Chef less,

Anyone know if NR have given permission for pathings to run the 67/DVT via Wrexham yet, last I heard permission was still being sought from NR in late June.

Journey Planner at start of September Timetable still shows outward via Crewe but the path for the return via Wrexham is currently in use. Perhaps a path via Wrexham can only be achieved by diverting a Holyhead to Birmingham Int via Crewe as had to be done when second WAG was introduced.

Isn't that just the current WAG2 anyway?

Yes. That is the current WAG and the only one from September which the powers to be want to run via Wrexham. WAG2 outward from Holyhead is still shown at present so obvious timings not finalised yet.

New timetable starts Sept 15th, The last Premier service runs on Friday 14th Sept via Crewe, it is also the last run of the 175 via Wrexham.

It is ATWs intention of running a Birmingham service via Crewe on Sept 17th thus giving a path to the 67/DVT, It is ATWs intention to run a DMU in front of the 67/DVT from Wrexham calling at Ruabon,Chirk & Gobowen to connect with Birmingham services at Shrewsbury & the 67/DVT.Large numbers travel East from Gobowen on morning excising services.
The 67/DVT is planned to run Chester/Wrexham/Shrewsbury/Newport/Cardiff
on the up to make up time it will miss the three stops between Wrexham & Shrewsbury.
It is not clear what will happen on the down after Shrewsbury from Sept 17th between Shrewsbury & Wrexham as extra time is needed in Chester,

I can confirm pathing confirmation from NR is still awaited by ATW,perhaps Planner may know something.

The journey planner for 24th September shows the 16:15 WAG-Ex running in exactly the same timings as it does now.

I wonder....all those locomotives and DVTs (x3)......... ;)

Aye, but they could start running with DVTs in the existing schedule. Chiltern's loco-hauled trains don't reverse anywhere en route. It's been so many years since non-sleeper loco hauled trains weren't push-pull or top 'n' tail that it'll take more than the presence of a couple of DVTs to convince me that this MUST mean a reversal somewhere. Implementation delays are hardly uncommon: when were the 57s supposed to come off the WAG? And when did they actually do so ?

Not saying it won't happen, but being able to book fares on WAG1 Northbound post Sept 14th isn't good if that train isn't going to exist then. I'll believe the re-routing when I see it, either in the flesh or on NRE.

The 57s were supposed to finish at the end of the Dec 2011 timetable as was the 175,Crewe was also supposed to finish as a call, ATW delayed the timetable to the last minute, then gave up, The 67 started March/April(not sure).

The delay now is getting paths from NR to run via Wrexham, this also concerns an extra DMU on the up to act as a feeder between Wrexham & Salop, as of last Friday I understand permission is still awaited.

Apart from WAG1 and perhaps Llandundo - Manchester, most ATW long-distance services have reversals anyway (I know the Cambrians don't, but the join/split, ERTMS and interworking with Holyhead - Birminghams almost certainly eliminate the posibility of 67s on them anyway).

3x 67 and 3x DVT sounds like two diagrams plus a spare, however the reports on refurbished coaches earlier on this topic suggest only 6 mark 3s are being prepared. Assuming the two buffet cars currently used for Gerald are already through wired for DVT operation and will form part of the new sets, that's two rakes of 4 coaches, same as for the present Gerald. Going by the present Gerald, one of those rakes will be spare. One hopes they will plan maintenance so both sets can come out to provide capacity for special events though, as was done occasionally with the mark2s. The big question is, if all the assumptions I've made are correct, why the third DVT?
