I wouldn't want to sit on one for over 3 hours. I've done that on a Coastliner bus and it was bad enough.

don't go there.... I did a journey from Market Harborough to Ashby De La Zouche last week for BBC radio Leicester and I about died, 3 hours it took me... I know that dead leg feeling well! lol

Well I don't suppose too much would have happened sensibly anywhere today with the snow. I noticed a 61 Buxton-Glossop operating then sat in a traffic jam from Topley Pike to Blackwell for a hour in the afternoon on the A6. The route the TP is supposed to use out of Buxton via Chelmorton looked rough.

I read the updates from the Twitter/facebook feeds and they say they should be pretty much running back to normal ish they hope, by the morning.

The formation of the High Peak bus company was supposed to have taken place last autumn. I'm not 100% sure of the reason for the delay in getting the new company set up?

One thing that does surprise me is the speed at which Trent Barton have withdrawn their ticketing arrangements! Given that the venture is 50/50 between Wellglade & Centrebus, I would have anticipated some degree of interoperability, at least at the beginning?

I'm less than impressed with the new website too. Given the length of time it's taken to get this up & running, (originally announced in May 2011), it's pretty poor really.<(

He caught a transpeak and was not impressed to find it was an ex Derby Uni bus. He was glad he wasn't going far on it.

For a route encompassing Nottingham/Derby to Manchester, coaches of a certain standard should be the norm, when the full route is ran. Coach 61 may well have "met its maker", but it always was a comfortable vehicle to ride in when my wife and I used it at weekends in the summertime to visit the many "tourist" places south of Buxton.

Especially as neither operator seems to have published any details of it (or any other way of getting info except for an expensive 0843 phone number).

The website seems to be a direct copy of the one centre bus use for Leicester so it must be them running it. They've never been great with comms!

On the Wikipedia information for the new High Peak bus company, there is mention of the "Sunday-only" 58 service from Macclesfield to Chatsworth House in the summary listing of all the new High Peak bus services, but what about the normal 58 service from Macclesfield to Buxton, as this was a Bowers operation and ran a daily service.

The daily service still runs, operated by High Peak: http://www.derbysbus.info/times/timetables/058P_120401.pdf

Don't always believe what wiki says, you are dependent on the twits who edit the text....

Passing through Glossop earlier today, I noticed an Optaire Solo in Centrebus livery. Didn't notice whether it was one of the Bowers' fleet or whether it was a vehicle imported from elsewhere. However, the paintwork didn't look particularly fresh so I would suggest the latter.

That livery does take some getting used to...;)

Indeed you are correct, but it does seem somewhat strange that they did mention the Sunday 58 service extension to Chatsworth House, so it was not that mention of the actual service that had been omitted.

Yes I do agree, 'tis a bit odd....

Yes it does, Centrebus really started up in Leicester in 2001 or something like and they had quite a nice livery, an orange with an orange off white cream colour too, then it went Blue Orange and white stripes then it evolved agin t it's current form of Blue bottom, Orange all over and a white sweep on the front. the latter has taken the most getting used to, certainly looks very vivid!!!

at leas they are easy to identify though, which is a mega plus from me.

Have any High Peak buses been repainted yet?
If so, does anyone have a picture?

I have seen some Solars on route 199 and a TransPeak Excel, all with legal lettering for Bowers Coaches and the Leicester address. So, it is in a sense being treated as a Centrebus subsidiary that will trade as High Peak.

I've not seen any but I've seen an increasing number of debranded Bowers buses.

Bowers buses have had the Leicester address on them for some time, they used to have a Chapel-en-le-Firth address on them.

If I understand correctly the High Peak routes are all registered under Bowers for now but it will change to High Peak when renewals come up.

The Buses will have the Leicester Address on them as the registered office for the route licenses and trading name and all that stuff is In Leicester.

Are they going to brand them the same as the Leicester Centrebus but with high peak wording or is there a new livery all together?

I understand that the standard Centerbus livery will be adopted across the whole fleet eventually.

That would be a logical decision to give a corporate Centrebus fleet identity, but surely more thought should have been given to the actual choice of the colour scheme.

Well the aim is to have them all repainted but the problem with the fleet is it seems to have buses appearing and disappearing from different areas all the time which doesn't help matters, plus the fact they keep getting 'new' secondhand buses to build up the fleet where needed. We have some R reg Dennis Dart Midi's in leicester still in all over ex london red, I think one is a Metroline bus, not sure, but all they have done is changed the legal lettering.

I dare say it is a cost saving exercise for the time being, predominantly beacuse it is easier and cheaper to change legal lettering on the chance that the buses may not yet be at their permanent home depot.

Yes I also agree more thought should be made regarding the colour scheme, and that goes for all areas.

I suppose that early days will see much stock changes, until the High Peak settles down with a fleet that will meet its service requirements on a proven basis.

No-one yet has answered my posting much earlier in this thread with regard to the future usage of the Bower's depot at Chapel en le Frith. Has anyone any news on this matter, please ?

From the Derbyshire CC website, it seems these Mon-Fri journeys are commercial services, competing with Derbyshire/GM subsidised services 341 (Stotts) and 394 (High Peak!).

http://www.derbysbus.info/times/timetables/202S_120415.pdf

The 202 only has a short localised route from Glossop to Chisworth, whereas the 341 covers the onward route from Chisworth to Hyde, via Broadbottom and the 394 is an even longer route covering more communities in its onward route from Chisworth to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

Also noticed this comment:

Yes Peter Centrebus are part owners of High Peak along with Wellglade. Centrebus will be responsible for the operational side of the business and so the livery will be the Centrebus livery. Engineering comes under operational. Wellglade will play no active part in the day to day running, but are equal partners with Centrebus financially.

High Peak branded bus in Knutsford for the first time today. A Solo with registration starting MX53 is on the 300 route, currently running about 20 minutes late.
