Clue 4:
If proper nouns were allowed, no blank tiles were used and no tiles were laid on a bonus square, the combines words of this station's name would score 16 points in a game of Scrabble.

Dzug2 has made a very unfortunate error to not get it in clue 1. Had he stuck with Derby Road rather than Derby he would have been the proud owner of 15 points.

We've only had four clues!

------------

Every major game on this forum that invovles some thought has some kind of gag location. For example, Guess the Station's is Lowestoft, while Guess the Bus Station's is Carlisle. Am I to assume that Name the Station's is Derby Road?

Clue 1 (I see Dzug2 is active on the thread):
This station is not in the former NSE area.

Oh bugger. What happens now, I seem to have failed miserably to count. For the record, the last clue would have been:
"This station is frequently given by myself as a wrong answer to clue 1.

It couldn't happen twice - but Derby Road..... anyway - to Clagmonster's question

I think this should be penalised as setting a dud clue, and minus however many points that carries (I think this is only the second time said penalty has been awarded).

Round is null-and-void. Start again.

No easier response than that! Just don't choose Derby Road this time! :p

You can reinstate the first clue you just provided if you wish.

You didn't provide a dud clue, you omitted a clue. There is nothing in the rules that states that is a Penalty (but I will add it should this happen again), so no deductions. And for the record, there have been five B Penalties, the most recent of which was earlier this afternoon

If Clagmonster doesn't want it I've got one ready. Derby Road won't be the answer

Sorry, had to pop off earlier. Anyway here's one for you.

This station is not in the former NSE area.

The curse of Derby Road strikes again! Instead of choosing it you choose the next one down the line and pay for it <D

I thought that going for Derby Road would be defying the quizmaster, so lead to some punishment, most probably execution.

I don't like Congleton as an answer, as I feel that Manchester Piccadilly is still on the West Coast Main Line - and as an extension of this, the line through Macclesfield, and the line through Handforth are both on the mainline.

This station is served by 2 of the 3 ToCs that serve MIA. (5)

Newton-le-Willows?

In any case, I got in a minute before the dud response penalties were reinstated. I'm not sure it really fits the diverted services clue, thinking more on it.

I know where you're coming from with Newton - it can potentially be used as a diversion route for WCML services terminating at Manchster from North (namely TPXs away from Chorley), but thats probably just me.

The correct answer was Heald Green.
