I wish someone would post the summer bus times on the councils website.
I'm planning to get a 3 day ticket on the first day of the summer timetables and tour the lakes :)

Yeah, buses need to get back to Kendal for fuelling and if needed changeover for routine inspection. They have done this to save on the dead mileage. Ambleside will still do turns on these routes though.

34700 out on the 104 today.

34079 and 34218 have vanished from Carlisle depot unless they are both in the bodyshop which is unlikely.

There's a sad irony in the fact that in more forward thinking countries (transport wise) "Bike buses" are used as part of the "Integrated Transport Hub/Commuter" ethic. Yet here it's seen as a novelty.

Stagecoach will be in need of extra staff, a syndicate of 12 drivers in Northampton Corby who had been warned they may face reduced working hours has just won £38m and a spokesman said they would not be returning to work. Stagecoach denied that one worker had in fact walked out mid shift when he heard of the win and said services would continue as normal though the duty manager admitted there would be 'gaps in service'.

I'm quite sure the situation isn't as bad as the media keep making out - there'll be plenty of management staff to get behind te wheel if need be, or failing that drivers can easily be seconded from other Midlands depots.

24118 replaced 52626 on the 685 today.

Just came up in conversation with someone on Flickr that while they were in the Lakes and surrounding area (last week) they managed to see/photograph all of the Kendal's Freedom Lakes Scanias other than 15723. He never seen her on the road the whole time nor she wasn't in Kendal depot either, havent heard of it being anywhere else nor being up at Scania, well it could be.... Any other ideas guys? :D

When I was last in the Lakes I rode on 15723 from Keswick to Ambleside.

Depending on what time you went to the depot, it could have ventured out onto 567 schools, or possibly one of the many Dallam runs.

Indeed, although I'm not surprised - I remember when Tridents first started being introduced to Kendal, 18372 (as first of type for route proving purposes) followed me around for 2 weeks, then I didn't see it for about 2 months!

Back in the days of 555 Olympians, it wasn't uncommon for me to go 3 months without seeing a particular vehicle! [Bearing in mind I was commuting daily to/from Lancaster, so travelling on 2 different vehicles and passing 2 more usually]

Enviro 24122 making a rare apperance on daytime 62 duties today due to a failed Dart. Later went onto the 554 and then I believe it was replaced on the 554 by a 62 branded Dart.

I've just got back from an overnight trip over in Newcastle and I was unlucky enough to have 24118 all the way to newcastle, its screeched badly at anything over 40 mph, and rattled like hell.. I was glad to finally get off tbh..
Luckily I returned on 52629 which was a lovely smooth journey :)

well thats strange... literally 3 hours ago I was riding on 24122 on the 104 back to Penrith the 18:50 departure to be precise.. and 16336 was on the 554
must have had a busy day that one.
