Pleased to hear it! Going to be odd having a mini fleet of newly painted B10s and B10Bs flying around! Although I think the Olympic period may be a bit of a nightmare I am looking forward to the fleet variations!

I think it will just go back to before ME got the E300s with the MANS going on the 3/4s and the B10b/ms going on the routes the MANs are on now.

Anyway, olympic reserve B10Bs are being prepped for going back into traffic, 21003 should have gone up to milnthorpe today for its MOT,21005 is up for repaint prep and 21004 as somehow disappeared as it was in the yard on monday night and most of the ME B10ms are scattered around the fleet, but should be back before the E300s go to london.

21004 is parked up down the side of CE, not been touched at all for paint prep.
20540 fully rubbed down and repanelled waiting to go into paintshops, 20544 is in bodyshop being prepared for repaint. 47721 was partially in the same bodyshop bay as 20544, having some attention to its front end.

24122 has had its "your Connections to Carlisle" branding removed

Can we request that everyone moves on from the earlier argument please. It has been dealt with so it would be appreciated if we can all leave the matter behind.

As always, if there is a problem with a post, feel free to report it rather than getting dragged into an argument. That way it is much less likely to escalate and is much easier to deal with by the staff team.

Just interested to know what chance is there in the future of E300s working such services as Ambleside to Hawkshead/Coniston & Ambleside to Dungeon Ghyll?

The services in these areas are operated by Kendal depot and the Ambleside out-station. There are currently no E300's allocated to Kendal.

I've heard rumours that 22140 and 22141 are going to be moving from scotland to kendal for the summer probs for the 505 service is this move still going ahead?

also on a different note 53338 was making a horrible noise on the X50/X5 today seemed to pull out of Penrith railway station very slowly when I saw it too, don't be suprised if its taken off duty for a few days after today..

22140/1 are already here and work is just about complete on them. Repainted and had 4 bike racks fitted.

You wont get MAN's on the 505 as they are too big. They wanted to put them on but out of the window now.

So what routes are we going to find 22140/1 on? With bike racks you would imagine somwhere in the lakes(thats why I thought 505) but if they're too big for the coniston route they arn't going to fit along say the dungeon ghyll 516 route.. but why would they put a bike rack on a bus thats going to spend its days probs going to either Arnside or Kirkby lonsdale are they?
are the MANs bigger than the B10Ms??

There is a little bit of a back story with these vehicles and the whole bike racks scheme. The idea was that the 'bike buses' operate a new route in the lakes designed to transport bikers and the general public around the Lakes. However the entire thing relied on some external funding to kickstart the scheme. This funding, as far as I am aware, has...erm...done a runner. SO the future of the bike buses is unknown to me but in my mind SC will either go ahead and take a risk by running the service itself or convert them back to normal capacity and use them somewhere else.

Happy to be corrected on any of that, hope that helps :)

hmmm well thats interesting.
In theory couldn't they just stick bike racks on the 555 scanias?

I can't imagine they want to go messing around with the layout of a load of brand new buses plus having racks has a big effect on capacity. The OT Tridents have bike racks but I'm not sure how often they are used.

I was meaning like ones on the back a bit like this one on the former osprey bus?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ian_simpson/5056859145/
then it doesn't affect capacity :)

True but I don't know how practical that would be, plus it would add extra length and on a big vehicle that could be an issue. In theory I'm sure they could do it but from what I have been told the rear mounted racks that were used on that Merc and later one of the Marshalls was barely used! Still an interesting idea though!

It is not possible to fit rear bike racks to deckers, because of the position of the engine bay and the way the bonnet/access doors open.

Besides, in my experience there isn't much demand for moving bikes on the 555, but I have seen bikes on 599 before.

Yeah always sounds better than it is I guess

on a different note, does anyone know which is the most pleasant stagecoach depot to work at in cumbria as a driver? personally routewise Kendal and Lillyhall appeal to me most :D

Kendal has some nice scenic routes, but the rostering isn't much fun, especially in winter, with many hours spent sat around the bus station waiting to relieve inbound services. Either that or you spend all morning being first on the various buses, being relieved just as they warm up!

I'm thinking of training as a stagecoach driver when I turn 21
Kendal in summer is probs the place I would choose overall tbh, I like the idea of driving tourists around key places in the lakes! :D although I know there will be a lot more too it than that.

Got told last night 21004 went up to carlisle for repaint after 18381 came back on tuesday, also 14208 is just a shell now as all the seats have been taken out.

Don't you think it's odd that absolutely no repaint prep was done on 21004 before it went up...

Happy to correct you :)

Funding still there and starts shortly.

34218 and 34079 up at Carlisle from Lillyhall for repaint no doubt.

21004 is awaiting space in the paintshop. 20899 and 20474 are virtually finished along with 16326 (IIRC). 19045 and 20131 are the next to go into the paintshop. 20540/4 will not go in until late next week at best.

34702 and 22609 are freshly repainted but awaiting vinyls.

Very happy indeed to be corrected!!!

Also Jonesy will be pleased that it is now known what 21004 is up to! Was right all along! :D
