Your First Driving Job

So I've done my first solo driving job a few weeks back, having previously only driven an old B10m with only my instructor as passenger. Everyone I know outside the industry says I've been chucked in at the deep end but I don't think it was too bad!

(Pickup 2 PAX)

(Pickup 6 PAX, transfer 2 from taxi)
08.05 Depart Sheffield
08.45 Arrive Tibshelf
(Transfer PAX to tour coach)
09.00 Depart Tibshelf
10.00 Arrive Depot

Pretty easy right? Just glad I left Wakefield early enough to use Sheffield Parkway - otherwise I would have chosen to risk A6109 and cutting through the centre!

It's clear from a number of posts that there are other drivers on here, what was your first driving job?

Both service operators around her use mentors/buddy's/service delivery coaches... Call them what you will... My first passenger carrying work was under instruction on a half hourly service that has a pvr of 2, the other bus was off the road....

This could go in the "whoopsie" thread. I am sure it was the day I passed my PSV test I was sent to do a run between the split sites of a local comp using the T reg Bedford I had taken my test in and driven a number of times under instruction so quite familiar with it. Extreme care taken with all the parked cars near the school I reach this junction https://goo.gl/maps/hP5sd turning left over the railway bridge. Something I had done many times on the way back to the yard. The lights were green and as I started to take the corner at my usual speed the laws of physics were applied and I discovered the different handling characteristics when loaded, having to snatch a downward gearchange. The scary part for me was how the body seemed to lurch over. Probably not as bad for the passengers as it felt to me but took things more gently after.
