reading/participating in other threads on service, staff etc both rail and non rail related has propted me to start this as a platform for us all to share good/bad experiences of service they've recieved.

This is not for bashing particular staff members etc and its probably best if names arnt mentioned, certainly not if describing a bad experience. as I say, train and non train related stories welcome. Keep it clean friendly etc.

Carry on!!

I'd say it's been on the good side. Whether or not due to me using first class but Virgin's staff have always been very good especially with evening Primo meals. Courteous even though I must look the opposite of the stereotypical first class passenger.
XC, although I've not had many experiences have been good, especially when the train manager (or whatever they're called) offered breakfast leftovers on a lunchtime train (bacon cob > sandwiches)

For me bad customer service is a synonym of slow customer service. I'm perfectly happy if they have a sullen or apathetic expression as long as it's quick (perhaps efficient is a better word)

On the whole, I've had very positive experiences on the railways. I always make an effort to be friendly and understanding with staff, and more often than not I get the same in return. Certainly, I get better service on the railways than I do when shopping on the High Street (hence why I hardly do anymore!).

My only really bad experiences have just been rude staff. Also had a couple of instances of poor service from ticket office staff, refusing to issue certain tickets or selling wrong ones etc. Nothing that I wasn't able to sort afterwards.

Customer service on the railway as a whole (inc L.U.L.) has improved immeasurably since privatisation. There are still pockets of unhelpfulness but they are getting rarer. Despite what some people claim the majority of rail users are a stoical well behaved and polite lot. No doubt this is going to cause a flurry of, "I was working on ......" type posts but by and large rail users are no problem. All one has to remember is when it all goes wrong..tell them, and keep telling and talking to them. No information - of any sort - equals seriously p155ed off people.
