So further to my posts of a few weeks ago, went to a different Aldi’s today and was able to pay with contactless for a bill of £43, however the checkout printed out a slip for me to sign! This was with a different card to the one we used above, this was American Express issued by Lloyd’s Bank.
This shop was different to our normal but also had the new style card readers, so I think it’s something to do with their new machines.

Now that is odd. Signature verification went out with the dinosaurs. You weren't getting cashback by any chance? (Though, I've no idea if you can do cashback with Amex).
No; it’s a credit card.
The receipt says ‘Signature Verified’ where the one posted earlier said ‘PIN Verified’ (but wasn’t).
