Basingstoke – Ascot SDR £8.00
Fares check passed.

Maps; BB+WX
Winchester – Reading – Guildford (via Farnborough North) – Clapham Junction (via Woking) – Ascot

That does appear to be 'valid', although you should check single fares, not returns, for the fares check rule.

However, it is such a ridiculous route, and pretty obviously unintended, that I doubt you will find it easy going.

I was looking for a split and it came up as a round the houses way to reduce the fare.

Basingstoke is a RP for Winchester and Guildford is a RP for Alton.
Winchester – Alton SDS £19.10
Basingstoke to – Alton SDS £12.50
Winchester to Guildford £18.00
Fares check passed so we shall use Basingstoke and Guildford as RP’s.

Winchester – Reading – Clapham Junction – (via Hounslow or Richmond) – Woking – Guildford – Alton (via Ash - all stations en route are members of Guildford RP or easement 67)

Easement 67:
Passengers travelling from or via Wokingham to Aldershot, Farnham, Bentley or Alton and stations on the Mid-Hants Watercress Line, may interchange via North Camp and Ash Vale. This easement applies in both directions. 11 minutes are allowed for transfer.
