So I’m wanting to travel Harrogate to KGX on Friday. Ideally, I’d like to be facing forward for the majority of the journey but the train reverses direction at Leeds. In the journey planner/seat selector, do I want my seat choice to be backwards to direction of travel at Harrogate?

You'll need to choose a suitable seat on a seat selector. LNER did away with facing/back distinctions back when it was East Coast and now just has numbered seats.
